Schools Private schools ‘evading tax’ KATHMANDU, Feb 5 - Some noted private schools in the capital, which charge high fees, have been found to be evading about 85 percent income tax, a Ministry of Finance survey said. According to the survey carried out in the top 15 schools based in Kathmandu and Lalitpur districts, they collected Rs. 840 million from students during fiscal year 2006/07 but paid only Rs. 3.8 million income tax. “Our survey shows their net profit should stand at more than Rs. 100 million. This means they should have paid at least Rs. 25 million in tax,” a high ranking official at the Finance Ministry said. what u guys think :: my view..no objection to anyone..m not stereo typing here but i feel majority of school n college are into this....so as other busineses I completely agree that private school/college are charging excessive amount n making fortune ..n without doubt they are evading tax and lots of business are doing that ..n i think govt should take strong major  action to curb this ..if things not control well will see lots of social n economical problems in our country.. धनी अती नै धनी हुँदै जान्छ गरीब र मिडल क्लास गरीब हुँदै जान्छ   which could leads to lots of crime n social unrest..look @ brazil...they have the highest gunshot death in the world..Colombia/Venezuela..south Africa list goes on..the gaps is wider the problem is higher .
