Hi, My H1B expired last year, so I filed for an extension. Now, H1B got approved for 3 years, but extension was denied. If any of you are familiar with this situation, please let me know. I heard you have to go back to Nepal for stamping or even to Mexico(something with the form I-824), but not sure what to do. Any information is appreciated!!

I'll explain again. I've been on H1b since 2005. After 3 years(On 2008), I applied for extension. Now last week I got a letter from immigration saying that H1B is approved, but extension is denied because non immigration status was not maintained. (or, H1B is approved without I-94 card). Has anyone come across this issues? Hope this makes sense. --thanks

did u do your h1 b with a consulting firm? was there a gap in your employment or you had to remain without paystubb? It will depend on different situations considering how non immigration staus wasnt maintained. you might wanna put this question on murthy.com or consult a lawyer. if nothing works try changing your status to f1
