hello, a US GC holder travelling to Nepal with 17 hrs of transit at Doha airport can apply for free transit visa? what are the requirements? some says its free but the website says i need to get e-approval for $14. if you have any info please let me know. i can get a 5 star hotel room for $28 and i think that will be lot easier and comfortable than spending 17 hrs in a public lounge and sleeping on a chair like couch.

Qatar Airways used to sponsor one time free transit visa ( they exempt 80 countries from pre approval) and Nepal does not fall on the list of 80. Hotels are cheap and food is great in Doha. Enjoy!! But remember, you may not get free visa on both leg of your transit

Thanks a lot ! Yeah it says the visa fee is waived for people with US residency but have to pay $14 for electronic travel authorization. I don't know if I need to apply for this e-approval beforehand or I can just apply for a free visa when I land in Doha.

No you cannot apply free visa on arrival. They have to pre authorize you. I am note sure, but i don't think you have to pay anything, your visa is sponsored by Qatar Airways.
