@NepaliNajar: Tero Kukuur khaney brain... EAD is not require to renew if you have been working for the same company, HR just need to update I9 base on Federal register. BUT, sometimes, if you are in need of financial transactions, bank requires you to have physical proof of immigration status, at that time, your expired EAD won't work. You need a valid any Federal ID. Driver license DON'T SHOW your immigration status. In MARYLAND, if you need a driver license valid for Federal purpose, then you MUST SHOW UNEXPIRED EAD CARD, GREEN CARD ANYTHING WITH PHOTO ON IT. SO EXPIRED EAD WON'T WORK. TPS HOLDER can buy property, but must show Federal ID with picture, which is valid EAD, expired EAD won't work. NEPAL KO PAKEHY !!! GET IT NOW.

Could anyone tell me what are the documents needed for applying EAD. It would be autoextended and would not require to apply for new updated EAD but just for the sake of having documentation for various purpose like DL and all, I would like to apply. I have renewed my license in Texas with an expired EAD. The DPS checks validity of your status in a federal database. If the database is updated, your license will be renewed. If not, DPS will issue an inquiry of your status. You will receive the result of that inquiry in your mail in about 15 days. You need to take that result to the DPS and they will renew your license. This is my first hand experience.

@gambler9803 I just went to DMV(DPS in texas) to renew my license. They issued the inquiry on my behalf. The answer to the inquiry was sent to my address in a document. I took that document to the same DPS and then they renewed my license. I dont remember if it was the SAVE program or not. My suggestion would be to go to a DMV office and ask them how to proceed. Try finding a DMV office in area where the officers are likely to be familiar with these issues. Usually, DMVs in rural area and small towns are not familiar with these issues.

Guys do we need to write letter of explanation for EAD? I think i will not send my AP application cause I read on one of the post where USCIS notified one member that AP Is no included on the Federal notice. But then I went and checked on Federal Notice of South Sudan whose TPS got extended 18 months and the notice doesn't even have anything about AP

Letter of explanation would be needed if it were late registration. I think the reason AP is not available is because this is technically not an extension but a halt of termination that gives us 9 months? I might be wrong.

@nj npl.. maxpayne is right.. to get the text mentioning that case has been received you have to fill out that form. Just 1 page form with your email address and phone number. Not a big deal though, but i always fill that form as it does not cost anything, at same time it does not have any additional value/benefit as well. You will get paper confirmation anyways.

@u4unique well not necessary, some people have been successful in renewing their license via the federal notice while some of us applied EAD just to avoid the hassle DPS and employer may give bhanera. So it is upto you whether you want to spend money for new ead with March 2020 expiration. i hope this helps you decide!

You do not need to file I821 if you already have approved i821 from last year! 2 photos with your name written at the back of each photo! $575 is the correct amount for AP

Are there any additional documents other than you've mentioned? And how long does it take for the processing? Chicago lockbox is processing applications really slow. Mine was delivered in may 17th and I got email notification on June 6th. So, don’t worry. You will get notification soon. I received my receipt by mail yesterday and it states received date as May 17 and notice date as June 6.

We have sent three EAD application by USPS mail and they've received on May 24th. Received email and text msg for all three application on May 30th. Receipt letter on June4th and Bio letter on June 8th by mail. One applicant bio letter received on June 11th. Wednesday June 12th .."Card produce.. for all three applicant So far so good. I just got my application back with rejection. I hadn't reregistered last year but have approval from 1st reregistration period. Also this is my first time applying foe EAD. Now i got a rejection saying that with the a(12) eligibility code i selected, i should have a I-821 receipt notice attached to the EAD application. Shouldn't i be able to apply for EAD based on my rerigstered TPS? :( Dont know what should i do now.

Hey we dont need to include a letter as we have reregistered one time. The reason they gave is that the eligibility code you provided on your I765 required proof that an I821 has been submitted. Please resubmit your Form i765 with a copy of your Form I821. I had written a(12) category. I guess i need to talk to a lawyer. I dont think i did anything wrong.

However, the extension of this validity period applies only if the eligible TPS beneficiary properly filed for TPS re-registration during the most recent DHS-announced registration period for Nepal (May 22, 2018-July 23, 2018), the previous re-registration period (Oct. 26, 2016-Dec. 27, 2016), or has a re-registration application that remains pending. In addition, the extension does not apply if the TPS of any such individual has been finally withdrawn. @daveraaz thanks. But i have approved TPS for previous reregistration period with validity from 12/25/2016 to 06/24/2018. Similarly, USCIS will issue an EAD with a March 24, 2020 expiration date for those with pending EAD applications that are ultimately approved.", i should be just be filing I765 based on my previously approved TPS. I had attached the approval notice for I-821 but now they asked for receipt notice for the same. Only thing i can think about right now that the print quality of the approval notice was TPS was really bad which might have caused the case worker to miss it altogether. Eligibility category a(12) is also correct as i am basing my application on approved TPS. Any suggestions? I am thinking about just printing a better quality of I797 approval and resubmit the application as i don't anything wrong with the application and basically they are just asking for receipt notice of I821 when i already have approval for the same. Weird stuff.

But, from what you've described, your application might have been rescinded and must be on its way to you. I'd say just apply with proper fee this time; and yes, just send the new application. @Chabahil Its sad that they returned your application citing 'incomplete document' even though your had a set of complete documents attached to it. Based on your circumstances, you should have been processed by now. Well I don't think I can come to any conclusion other than their negligence. Its gonna be a lil hassle for you keeping corresponding back and forth. Make sure you include a small short note on the front in all caps and big prints to insure them that the particular document, I797, is included. Hopefully this helps a lil bit to ease your situation! It's about to be 30 days in next 4 days and i have not received nor mail receipt or return package. people whose document were submitted before and after my date have already received the receipt. I called uscis just to check if they can see anything under my name, and they were saying no, but to wait till 30 days for any further action. If the package is missing then that will be another torture to go thru. Anybody who is waiting for the mail receipt and the wait time is near about 30 days like me?

I got a notice saying your TPS is in process and will let you know at the end of 4-5 weeks. And after another 5 weeks, got a notice saying your TPS and EAD has been approved and will send you EAD card soon. Then I got my EAD card after 2-3 days. So yeah, it might take some time. Just an update about the timeline, not sure it will help anyone but it has been like this for me...i765 delivered on 18th June, received sms that the application has been received and is processing with the case number and received i797 in mail on the 1st of June. But from what you guys are saying, it takes some time to receive the EAD card in mail. Hopefully, I can use the notice of action to get employed soon. Hey guys, just wanted to share that I had sent my EAD and TPS application (both previously approved) to USCIS via USPS and saw that it was delivered June 2nd w/tracking number.. I had not received any notification even with G1145 form.. I got my rejected packet today and the reason was "the payment amount is incorrect". I had sent $410 but I am assuming they are needing the $85 as well. I plan on sending the additional fees and send my application again. Good Luck to everyone.

In case of @natasha, pretty sure it's coz of the i821 that they said the amount was incorect. The guys who process don't use their head and are like chakko pilo, just makes your life difficult. They don't bother thinking twice. Just send i765 and not the i821 this time around. In case of @chabahil, they require a copy of your TPS approval, which in itself is a i797, from what I understand. If you've for that you just need to send the latest i797 for the i821 and you should be good. @pyackman: have you received your i797 yet, or any email sms notification where they provide you with the case tracking number?

Thanks so much guys! The reason I sent the i821 is just so I have that TPS approval paper along with ead.. I think to be safe I will send separate checks for the ead. $410, and $85. This is what Adhikaar Org send me. USCIS They received my application on 27th, I got a text saying my case was received in 1 week. I wrote a letter explaining why I didn't file for TPS last time. I have attached the notice below. If you need a physical copy of approval notice with an expiration date of March 24, 2020, you can still file for TPS with an explanation of why you did not re-register last year. @Donut bro, Had you reregistered during at least one of the re-registration period? The federal notice clearly says that if you had re-registered for at least one of the registration periods, you don't need to write a explanation letter. I had reregistered during the first reregistration period, which should be good enough for EAD application (as my TPS is valid) as per the FRN. I think the case workers haven't been properly notified on this as for other countries one had to write a explanation letter if you missed any of the reregistration periods barring Nepal and Honduras.

About EAD if notice says TPS holder (May 22, 2018–July 23, 2018) and (Oct. 26, 2016–Dec. 27, 2016), can apply EAD , they should approve. @Donut bro thanks for the update. I am thinking mine will be returned again as i haven't heard back. The only difference is that i didn't sent a letter explaining why i didn't re-register last year. Also, confirmed from Adhikaar that i don't need to include a letter, I797A with end date of June 24 should work, which i included. By my bad luck USCIS case workers aren't knowledgeable enough about this look like. This is what i got from Adhikaar, and that is what i exactly filed with: "Hello, Thank you for reaching out to us. According to the federal notice that came out on May 10, if you have TPS either until June 24, 2018 or June 24, 2019, you are covered under automatic extension. This means that you do not need to file for TPS this year. However, if you have never applied for EAD through TPS you can file it now with a copy of TPS approval notice validity until June 24, 2018, along with other supporting documents. Hope this is helpful. Let us know if you have any other questions. "

Texas, ask em to do additional verification, they verify via call with DHS and send you a letter of lawful presence in mail. Takes about 1.5 weeks.

yup, the office that I was assigned to actually suggested that, I did not know that was even an option because Texas has been very inflexible with Driver's licenses. The letter is from headquarters of the State department, they verify with DHS and send a letter in mail that you take to the DMV

I've sent AP application a month earlier just to get the whole package back in mail almost after 40 days of wait, citing to resend it over with some additional documents. What a freaking waste of time! I thought I included all the necessary documents with form I-131,$575 check, 2 copies of PP size photos and few other additional copies as suggested by one of the SAJHA users in this same thread. However, I didn't file for I-821 (TPS) this time, assuming not necessary. Now, they are asking I-821 along with the original applicaton for I-131. I got my AP approved yesterday. These were the documents I sent: 1) Passport (page 2, INITIAL entry visa page, TPS parole entry stamp page) 2) letter stating reason of travel (visit family) 3) previous AP 4) previous AP approval notice 5) 2 photos 6) Previous TPS Approval Notice 7) $575 And I sent it to USCIS P.O Box 6670167 Dallas, TX 75266 I read somewhere if AP is filed without TPS it should be sent to TX address. I also applied EAD to Chicago address, but it is not approved yet. Hope this helps.

Also, if you have not applied for EAD with new date make sure to check your E-Verify status. It may not have been adjusted with new information. I had to contact DHS as my new employee was contacted my DHS for mismatching information in EAD.

@Donut: that's so unusual, but happy for you. I read a news today that even OPT EADs delivery/processing are heavily delayed this year around. Few students waiting for OPT have reported that it has already been more than 120 days. So, pretty sure it is the USCIS that might have heavy load of documents to process or facing some problem that is leading to this delay. Lastly, I am waiting for EAD. Got my notice of action in mail on 1st July.

So in the state of texas, they just input your USCIS number, that is in any kind of immigration document, and whatever their system comes back with is what you get. USCIS does not update their system too often which is why they do the second verification in which a person calls USCIS and confirms your legal status and the date. But DMV is a state department and every state has different ways they do business.

I renewed my drivers license in concord,nh with my EAD(exp 6/24/19). The ladies at dmv in concord,nh knew about TPS and also had a document about extended EAD for Tps. I took federal notice to show them but they already knew about it. License renewed until 3/23/2020.

But DMV in Watertown,MA didnt even know what TPS was. The supervisor wouldnt even listen to what i was trying to say. Thankfully got a job in NH and moved there. They won’t make decision tomorrow. It may take days, weeks and months. Worst case scenario the TPS related docs will be ineffective after March 2020 until the final decision from 9th circuit .

@Daveraaz: You need visa for Canada. Not sure about Hong Kong. But from what I've heard and seen: China is the best route.

Did anybody receive their EAD recently? it’s been now nearly more than 60 days and the case still says received, Are they planning to send our EAD during March 2020 only, so frustrating 😓

Looks like they are either delaying or denying. Hello all, I did apply EAD on June 24 but i got my form returned back after a month because of wrong amount. so, I did submit it back again on July 26. On Sep 6, my case status shows the card is being produced. Hopefully, everyone will receive their EAD card soon. good luck all.

But why they are not producing EAD as per the received date? It feels like they are doing a lucky draw. Many people who applied around May still have not received the card yet. It’s frustrating . Most of us cannot change the employer because of this , not all understand the TPS concept. Not sure what else can we do apart from waiting.

@ sexyindhakatopi They are aware and if they are not, have them read the AP documents, they will consult with the ones that already know the process. Should not be an issue. i didn't have any issue last year. Going again at the end of November. :)

I did not renew TPS the last time because I got EAD through AOS. I did re-register the year before though. If my AOS is denied, is my TPS status still valid till Jan 2021 ?

Has anyone applied for reproduction of EAD card after the announcement of TPS extension through January 4, 2021? I recently applied for a new card with just $410 (no biometric fee), but I received a appointment notice with ASC for biometric screening. I wonder if this will cause an issue with the application since I have not paid biometric fee.

so I applied for my EAD on may 2019 but then due to backlog it didn't get processed until november 2019 and when my EAD got delivered i got the new updated date of jan04 2021. My biometric was waived

@kc I765 G1145 Money order. I think $410. For sure we dont have to pay biometrics fees though. But please check the website. Whatever is there, just that amount. Make sure you follow Pay to bhanne guidelines Copy of previous EAD front and back Ani TPS re-register gareko approval copy (I dont think it's necessary but I usually did use to send it) No photos needed.
