saving accounts interest is a big joke in US. there are some online banks who offer upto 2% (which is a great deal) but how comfortable are you to deal with a bank which has no physical location at all. that's upto you.

make these considerations: 1. NPR loses roughly 7% (just estimate) value against USD every year. 2. FATCA filing for foreign held accounts will be a big headache. Yes, Nepal Banks do report you to the IRS.
