Life is so fleeting that if you compare the lifespan of your entire life with cosmic timescale, it is nothing. As sage Vashistha said, when the fleeting nature of life is realized, it is experienced as dream; life indeed is elusive! Yet, there is an intense desire on all beings to live forever. Nobody wants to die. Nevertheless, the cruelty of time is that it has no mercy. In due course, time brings wrinkles in your face and your whole body fades away like Jack's body in the Titanic movie vanishes in ocean's dark abyss nowhere to be found. Most people are not in the state of accepting this state of nature's affair. It's extreme cruelty! How can time do this to us when were are just experiencing the tiny fraction of our happiness. We want to see our loved ones forever, we want to be with them forever. The greatest attachment in life is the attachment with people. To cross this ocean of deep attachment with people seems near impossible and the desire to live forever grows more and more as we age. Our desires seems to be in complete opposite direction with the of law of time. Realization of this truth may bring sadness in one and that person may start asking question what's the point of all this? However, there is hope! When one realizes the fleeting nature of life and starts asking question 'Who am I?", that person is on the right track. I wish you all the best with your life's journey.
