One thing preventing wide adoption of certain technologies is energy storage. Particularly, batteries. Teams around the 🌐 are working to develop really cool batteries. Batteries that can power electric vehicles. Your phone can eventually last for 5 days on a charge. Now read about solid state battery technology, what is it? A Solid State Battery is a rechargeable battery technology which uses solids as electrolytes as opposed to liquids/gels in a conventional Lithium Ion Battery (LIB). Why solid state battery technology? They are expected to be better than Lithium-Ion Batteries (LIBs) in the following: Greater storage capacity Very little probability of exploding Faster charge time Greater energy densities Cheaper All these are a result of a simpler design and the use of certain solids as electrolytes. Solid state batteries are projected to eventual replace LIBs completely by 2030. LIBs are limited due to certain reasons: Their electrolytes are combustible, especialy when exposed to humid air. A case of this was seen in the Samsung Note 7 due to poor design. They develop internal structures called dendrites which limit their efficiency over time. They charge for longer while storing less energy. They are mainly 2 dimensional, limiting the travel distances of lithium ions. Energy Density The Energy Density of a battery is energy stored by a battery per unit volume. It can be viewed as a way of comparing different batteries. Generally, LIBs have lesser energy densities than their solid state counterparts. Approches by different Companies.. You can continue reading from here... https://techwinx.com/solid-sta...
