Right now most nepali and Tibetan are driving uber as a uber driver here in nyc and they think its good money earning business but is it right one ??? Question comes when no one cares about futur of this business . To be a uber driver in nyc you must have lots of money to invest like around $20000 minimum. Tlc registration around $5000 and finally then you can become uber driver here in nyc . $25000 invest business for being a uber driver 🙁🙁🙁.crazy right ?? Its totally stupid . Uber driver here in nyc hardly make $200 a day now in 2018. If you calculate the money you make end of the year you hardly make 60000-100000. If you make $100k in year uber take 36% commissions which is $36000 Tolls almost $5000 Gas almost $10000 Car repair almost 5000 After all this you dont have health insurance. You have to pay for health insurance also every month . Imagine if you got sick all your earning goes for medical bills .😫😫😫😫 End you the year you pay taxes which is almost $7000 So now total you save how much please calculate by yourself.🤔🤔🤔 I think uber driver are saving less then a restaurant, gas station cashier here in nyc after investing so much money . And this job is not so easy also. U might got accident and get lot of ticket and your license mey revoked . There are so many drivers who pee on bottle. 😤😤😤😤 no rest room. Which might coz you kidney problems. Lack of sleep makes you sick and hyper tensions.Uber driver sleep and eat in car which coz you weight gain and slowly and slowly you get lots of deaseas. I think no one think these things before being uber driver here in nyc . I m not saying its good or bad i just want to let all nepali friends to know if u are thinking to be uber driver and want to be rich please think 🤔. This in not a profession where you make enough money . If you invest $25000 better look for business where you have respect and more safer life then driving on street here in nyc like dogs all day and night from 4 am morning to 12 modnight . Taxis are almost gone so uber looks like it's here to stay. May be one day it does not make enough money and files for bankruptcy and comes out as a different name....Don't know what might happen to Uber Drivers if the company decides to shut down. I have been getting uber pass and I've asked other people and they too have got uber pass...Uber pass let's you ride uber for cheap...like $2.5 per ride and $15 activation free..valid for 28 days...Uber will never make money on people who get uber pass (unless the ride is ultra short distance)....then why is uber giving these rides for cheap? Whatever happen in the future, Uber is great for consumers and best thing that happened after google maps...or may be smart phones..but how long will it last like it currently does...may be uber makes a lot from surcharge...and also since there is less and less alternatives for people who used to ride cars...they can now use uber for cheaper price...and there will always be people wiling to make more than minimum wage and not ready to get into learning other skills...in other industries..Uber might just work for everyone...for a long time...also a lot of companies are going online...including restaurants too...you can use ubereats or eat24 or other apps...etc... also there is this driverless car too...which is trying hard to become an alternative for uber drivers....will driverless cars come to the market and replace uber drivers someday.. Yes uber ,lyft these company only good for passanger but not for drivers who drive so hard and they still cant make nice living because of cheap passanger who never give tips even there is a tips option available .

if you have $25000 and any skill that people need, you can make a good living by having your own small business. But most people don't like to learn, they like to earn, fast fast.

I am not an Uber driver but I personally know many uber drivers in NYC. First of all, as OP said, its not worth it anymore. My friends made 100k+ in 2015 and 2016 working 15+ hours everyday. In 2017, they said that they made around 80k working same hours. This year, they say that it will be tough to make 80k and the year does not look good ahead because of new and strict TLC regulations.

Yea thats correct. Its hard to make $200 per day . So if you calculate even you work all day in year with out off you cant make more then $73000 200 per day ✖️365 days =$73000 only😩😩😩

I appreciate the OP's analysis of an Uber driver's income and expenses but I wonder why he thinks all nepali (I am not talking about Tibetans here) are driving uber as a uber driver. FYI, I am a Nepali but I am not a Uber driver. Having said this, I respect the job as Uber driver. Kaso mitra haru?

Yo uber kasto huncha bhane ra try mareko khattam bho car (50k miles in yr+3 accident)and insurance(increased by 20%).Weekly 1000 jati aaucha before expenses din ko 15/16 ghanta kaam garyo bhane.Tara expense deduct gardaa 500 jati , hesab garyo bhane ghanta ko 6/7 dollar jati.Nepal ko taxi driver le bhanda pani kaam hudo raicha income.Baru Nepal tira gaye ra Taxi chalaunu parla lol .
