I submitted my package(TPS + EAD) last Friday (10/28). It got delivered on Monday (10/31). USCIS cashed my check on Thursday (11/03). I should get official receipt in next few days.

@k_ho_k_life I received two receipt numbers for TPS and EAD. When I try to check case status online, it says numbers are not valid and could not be found. I called USCIS this morning and they said, it just takes time for the cases to show up in the system sometimes (upto 30 days). The worker could pull my case info and said nothing was wrong with the case. I guess we just have to be patient and keep checking back.

@fdpower Not sure if you don't get my point or are too stupid to get it. Every other time I got any receipt number from USCIS I was able to check the case status immediately. This time it did not recognize my case number. I did not have your number or I would have called you since you seem to know it all. So what is the obvious thing to do? Call them and clarify. And as a matter of fact, person on the other end was totally fine clarifying it to me that their system is slow and I should be able to track it after some days. You are the one that is butt hurt for no reason.

Hi all I sent mine for re registration on 30th oct. I receive my whole package and check back and a notice citing the application got rejected. The reason is 'an applicant must file a complete application within the designated registration period.'. I guess I filed timely. I sent them I821, EAD application and G1145. No update but two cases checked today: Case Is Pending at a Local Office (why it is still in local office i don't know i get the letter saying they use previous biometrics) On October 31, 2016, we received your case for Receipt Number LINxxxxx, and we are processing it at our Nebraska Service Center location. Nepalisajha3 I applied for AP last year, and got approved too. When I applied for AP last year, my TPS application was still in pending status. The reason I mentioned was family visit in Part 4 section 1 a of i131 form. I did not send any extra letter stating detailed reason for travel. Hope this helps.

@wavernepal: Haven't heard that and not sure whether it is recommended or not. In any case, if you do send together, put a printed sheet at the very beginning clearly saying this package contains TWO applications, and list the names. After that, 2nd page maybe you should insert a page that says something like "Applicant: [Your name]". After your application, put another printed sheet saying "Applicant: [Your wife's name]". Maybe good to use paper clips to separate out the two applications as well. Not professional advice so you may want to consult a professional. GL.

@[Disallowed String for - Advertising not allowed]10 since the above AP expires on Dec 24, 2016, i'm assuming you need to reapply for another AP for if you want to travel after Dec 24, 2016. I was told by the port of entry officials that the one I used with Dec 24 expiration will be good for one more year and multiple entries. But when I read articles about it, it says i need to renew with valid expiration to travel outside again.

@wavernepal This is only suggestion ( if you are risk taker) 1. make two application as if you are sending separately.keep it in different envelope.( with individual check for each applicant). Why individual check? yes if one application has problem then they might return both if separate then they may process at least one and you save time. 2. while posting to the USCIS post in one envelope so that you save money on posting if you are not risk taker send 2 application separately.

chelseafc Yeah I assume if I wanted to travel after Dec 24, 2016, I need to reapply for AP. But, fortunately, I got my EAD/AP combo card through GC process. I applied for TPS extension just to be in the safe side while I485 is pending. PS: Chelsea looking strong right now. But a run of losing points in near. Prepare yourself ;)

Hello Guys I sent my TPS application on end of November for late initial registration on Chicago Lockbox. I just got a rejection letter for the wrong payment amount. Since, I already have an EAD, I filled out i765 and checked on "Permission to accept employment" but sent the check amount of 135 dollars. They send me a new updated filing amount attached to the rejection letter but the new filing fees are not enforced until December 23, 2016. Do you guys have any idea how I should proceed? Is it because i checked the wrong box on i765? Should I resend the same documents with updated i765 or updated check amount? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

if u intend to send by express mail so that it reaches before 24 dec (deadline) u can send new ones. old one becomes helpful for those who got rejected after deadline. in your case, send new one by overnight express mail, then attach a separate piece of paper explaining what happened. write your alien number and the number that was in the rejected i821 on this paper. they should have record on it.

Hello everyone, I just completed my undergrad but did not apply for OPT has I had applied for TPS related ADA last year and I am planning to use it now as it has been extend till . I applied for TPS re-registration on last week of October, USCIS received my application on Nov 8, then send me I-797C on Nov 21. As of Dec 20, my case is still pending. If I recall correctly All the people who applied for re- registration and received I-797C was supposed to email their application number to some representative mentioned in the re-registration announcement for fast processing. Has anyone emails that representative, I could not find that person's email address any more in the the announcement. Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks

@GirlBoss : They re-used Biometrics from initial filing for most of the applicant. They recalled some for new biometrics as well. I don't know what criteria USCIS used for this decision.

You would be better off consulting a professional but did not want Underwaer's comment to discourage last minute filers into making a decision to not file. –--------------/--/////// Failure to Register . 8 CFR 244.17(c) states that “failure to register without good cause will result in the withdrawal of the alien’s Temporary Protected Status.” All re- registration applications postmarked after the filing deadline should be rejected. The contractor will forward copies of the rejected notices to USCIS for tracking. If the applicant does not resubmit his or her application with evidence of good cause for failing to re-register timely within 60 days, a notice of intent to withdraw TPS should be issued. That notice must provide the applicant 30 days to submit evidence of good cause for failure to register in accordance with 8 CFR 244.13(b).

PridenPrejudice, what did you send? Crodiks, you can always try. No harm in trying. You'll just waste postage fees if they reject it for whatever reason. Make sure you send it by USPS Express mail though to try to make it by the deadline.  Gandharba, I've called and asked them before. Well then, you'll need to prove you were in the states through the 24th of June 2015, and you need to show "You had an application for change of status, adjustment of status, asylum, voluntary departure, or any relief from removal which was pending or subject to further review or appeal." Show them proof that your asylum case is pending. You must have some sort of document to prove it.

@girlboss I wasn't aware of the EAD fee increase. I mailed my TPS-registration applications yesterday (December 21, Wednesday) with a money order of $465 ($380 for EAD and $85 for biometrics). Now I'm really worried that my entire application will be rejected because of the wrong amount on the money order. I used USPS Priority Express flat rate envelope. The Priority Express is an overnight service and my package should have been delivered today before noon (December 22, Thursday), although my USPS tracking information page hasn't been updated at all since leaving my city. I've no idea. If you used USPS Priority Express, it should have been a guaranteed delivery. However, since it's Christmas time, anything goes with USPS. I really can't say. I've known of cases where USPS didn't update that a package has already been delivered. Didn't you see, "Please note, Priority Mail Express postage refund eligibility is adjusted for shipments mailed between Dec. 22 and Dec. 25." at the PO. Because they know there could be screw-ups. Even if USCIS had received your package today, there's no guaranteed that they would have processed it today itself because it really depends on how fast they work. They process it by the order they received the packages. As for whether they'll reject your package, I don't know. 😨 Just wait and see...  Last edited: 22-Dec-16 09:49 PM

But that's how I understand it. If we are going to argue about semantics, only one of them has to be true for the then statement to be true, i.e., the new fee rule will go into effect. So, I called USCIS and asked two questions: 1) I mailed my TPS re-registration applications with the required documents on December 21st (Wed) using USPS Priority Express service which is an overnight service. Since my mail is postmarked December 21st, I'll be fine and the new fee wouldn't apply to me. I wanted to be 100% sure so I asked her if she could explain to me what postmark means. Of course I know what it means I wanted to make sure we were on the same page so I can be 100% sure that my application is safe. She replied that it was the date the post office receives the package from me and stamps/writes the date on it. She said she wasn't sure about the other question but told me that sometimes USPS is not very up-to-date with updating their tracking information, especially during the holiday season. She said she'll transfer me to another operator and may be they can help me with the first question. The second operator who answered was a guy who sounded like he woke up late and had to rush to work and i was his first customer and he hadn't started to properly function for the day yet. I was talking very politely on the phone at a moderate pace, yet he kept saying "slow down, slow down". Kathy had no problem keeping up with what I was saying at that same pace. Throughout the conversation, his tone was very rude and he kept cutting me off as I was talking. After giving him my information, I asked him if there's a way he could determine if USCIS has picked up my package from the PO Box. He said there's no way to know right now. I'll find out in 10 days when I receive my notice. Duh! of course I know that. But I wanted to know whether my mail is at least in USCIS's hand, even if it hasn't been processed yet, so I know it's not lost or something since USPS tracking sucks. Of course, I asked this very kindly. Not in the tone I typed it. He said it's too early to tell. I understood that there's no way I would know this information immediately unless USPS updates their tracking info and hence there was no point in pursuing this question further, so I just thanked him for his help (or lack there of). Although Kathy already helped me with the money order question I figured i'll just ask him too since its always good to get a confirmation/ second opinion. My question was worded exactly the same way it was worded when I asked Kathy the question. He said "Maam, in that case your application will be mailed back to you. I was shocked. I tried to explain to him that my package is postmarked Dec 21 but he kept interrupting me and cutting me off and even before I was done talking he gave me the the mandatory "Thanks for calling. Hope you have a great day" line. I couldn't believe it. The sense of relief I felt after talking to Kathy quickly went out the window. I waited for like 15-20 minutes and then called USCIS again. The third operator was a female with name starting with S (I forgot). I asked, " I mailed my TPS re-registration applications with the required documents on December 21st (Wed) using USPS Priority Express service. The scheduled delivery time was December 22nd (Thursday) at 12:00 noon. I just found out last night that there was a fee increase effective today (Dec 23, Friday). I wasn't aware of this. As for USPS I called them too but I can't get to a person. The automated system keeps repeating the same tracking info I see on my computer. I'm thinking of going to the post office later today to inquire about this.

@skt, thanks for the update. 😅 I like the fact that it's detailed. It's certainly a huge relief that they assured you that the new fees don't apply in your case. I told you there are incompetent USCIS reps. I've chatted with some really helpful and nice ones in the past myself. During that initial registration period, they had already sent out an approval notice but to the wrong address, because I'd mistyped 1200 instead of 1208 in the address field. Lol. The dude who helped me was really nice. He faxed me a copy of the notice. There were no further complications. The other day when I called about something else, a dude sounded like he was high on drugs, slurred voice and everything. Of course, he was no help when it came to answering my questions. Anyway, you could have sent an e-notification form along with your other forms for a peace of mind. That way, you wouldn't have been fretting this very moment. 😅 Also, all USPS phone numbers go to the same automated service. @girlboss In case you're interested, my tracking info has now been updated. My package arrived at the Chicago, IL 60680 post office at 10.48 am today. It was available for pickup at 11.24am, and finally it was signed by R.Mercado at 3.12pm. I'm happy and very very relieved that my package is now with USCIS (not in the PO Box but with USCIS) since today is the last working day before the Dec 27th deadline. However, it was supposed to have arrived yesterday, that too by 12 noon. That's the only reason i paid extra money for Priority Mail Express. Otherwise, I would have sent it through regular Priority Mail and saved $16. Oh well! Did you also mail your TPS re-registration application on December 21st (Wed), I saw one of your posts in another discussion thread that seemed to imply that you had mailed it on the same day as me. @skt, told you I was asking for a friend. His fee waiver request got denied. He received a green slip with it. He has 45 days from the date on the slip to send back a new application with the correct amount. He said he'll just send it after Christmas lol. That way, there's no confusion as to whether he has to pay $465 or $495. No, I think the USPS Express was still worth it. well I think it does not have to do something with location. Last year TPS filing of mine took almost like a year but this year it was a breeze even with the same location with both the times. So my analysis is it does not depend on location but some few factors like ( just guessing) 1. officer handling case 2. Missing or error on the form Again, this is just a guess of mine but concretely not sure about it. Just be little patience and hopefully it will be approved.

@k_ho_k_life which number did you use to call USCIS? I need to call myself. Last year, my application was approved two weeks after biometrics, however, this year no biometrics and almost two months after biometrics not needed notice, application is still pending!!!

@ bournvita86 I don't remember the number but i called in the number that is in bottom of the notice. If you check at the bottom you will find it. once you call let us know what they reply to you. you can call any time till 6pm (local time).

I have been waiting almost a month after my 'no biometrics needed form'. Calling that number won't help because they will just tell you the average processing time is 3 months and you will have to wait some more time. My suggestion is to email here NSCFollowup.NCSC@uscis.dhs.gov with your case numbers. I did not get a reply but emails are always better than phone call.

My case was received on November 18th and I got receipt letter on Nov 24 and bio metrics notice on Dec 14 as they used my previously captured finger prints. My EAD and TPS both approved on 30th of December. Everything went smooth. So do not be panic guys, you will also get approval soon. Now I am planning to apply for Advance Parole document but USCIS has hiked the fee from $360 to $575.

@ Khoklife- Kansas Resident. Sent package to chicago, My case was processed in LIN (Nebraska). I am sure it will be approved. Holiday season doesn't get lot of work done!!

I applied right before the deadline (TPS only, didn't apply for EAD renewal at this time). USPS tracking shows that the packet was delivered on Dec. 26 but nothing has happened since....USCIS hasn't cashed the check yet...I'm starting to think they're denying my application for renewal. K po garni hola?

there is nothing you can do other than to wait. i think u should be fine. even if they reject, you can appeal because it was delivered before dec 27 deadline. how much was the check for ?

Except for AP, everything approved on January 12th. Application received by uscis on november 3rd.

TPS extension and EAD got approved today. Receipt date 11/02/2016 for both. @bbmb My biometrics was waived. But I have heard some cases where you have to go for fingerprint again.

How long does it take from "new card being produced" to the actual card arriving on mail. Will there be another update that says something like- "card has been mailed" with tracking info? Or is my card already on it's way?

@abcxyz: I am supposing when we applied EAD via TPS for the the first time, at that time the tracking # was provided with but with the renew process it hasn't been done so. Now, the only message you see is card was mailed to me.

they will update tracking number a couple of days after " card was mailed to... ". sadly, by that time, you would have received your EAD card.

Finally approved. Here is my time-line: Application sent: 10/28/16 Application receipt notice date: 11/04/16 Biometrics notice date: 11/13/16 (user previous) Approve date: 01/26/17 EAD card receive date: 02/02/17 I still have not received the TPS approval notice though. It took longer than last time - it was processed and completed in one and a half months last time, this time it took three.

I got my 1-797C received notice from USCIS on Jan 4, 2017 and still haven't received my biometrics appointment date and time. It's almost 2 months now. This was my TPS re-application. The first time I got my biometrics appointment date and time less than 2 weeks after receiving the initial 1-797C received notice. Did anyone have to wait this long for biometrics? I'm getting really worried.

Initial Application approved on March 3, 2017. ( Filled in 2015 ). Second application is closed ( March 3, 2017) saying "the applicant has another benefit through other means". It is not true. Even though I have an another application pending, I am not approved and I do not have any other benefit/s active besides pending application. I am waiting for the NOTICE to arrive, but just curious if anyone been through this. Anyone had to file motion to reopen ? If yes, which form to file MOTION TO REOPEN I-821 ??
