Dear Friends, I want to report a scam. I bought jewellery from the owner of Xotica Bhatbhatini last year, it was a gold set, earrings and a necklace with a pendant. I paid a lot of money for it. Tripti Karki did not give me an seal of certification and i was told she only accepts payment in cash or check. I recently fell on financial hardship and went to have this same gold set appraised. But, it turns out she is running a huge scam and the set she sold as pure gold is in fact a cheap metal. What can I do? I want to press charges but I have no receipt. Can I report her to the business bureau? I spent over $5,000 only to find out it was all fake. I want a refund. What would you do if you were in my situation? Please help me devise a solution and please do spread the word about this fraud and her fraudulent business practices. She is in NY and trying very hard to sell all this fake jewellery to customers by falsely claiming its real gold. Please spread the word to fellow Nepalese in NYC and let them know she is a scammer. I am thinking of pressing charges against her with the bureau of business. What do you guys think or suggest? Any ideas on how I can catch her red handed? Thank you for reading my message. Anyone know additional information about her business partners/dealings and reputation so I can take legal action against her? Please let me know. Thank you! Put some pics of the jewelries you bought from the said seller so readers are more inclined to believe you. Sometimes people do accuse other people out of spite to tarnish their reputation.

Even if what you are saying is true, you can't do anything without a receipt. Let's say even if your case makes it to a court which is itself highly unlikely: Court: Any evidences of your claim? You: these so callled gold items she sold to me. No other evidences Court:(to the lady): did u sell these fake items? Lady: i don't know this person, never sold any items to this person. End of the story.

Without a receipt you can not do anything. Even if you had a receipt, that receipt have to mention in detail about the merchandise like 22k or 24k gold such and such grams. Receipt with just the price is not going to help you either. I have seen these cases far too many times.

Lesson learnt: Be smart..not taking receipt or paying cash to merchendise to save some money or tax is not a good practice anyway.

Buying diamonds or gold specially for a lot of money, get certified one, which expains in detail of what you are buying.

Without evidence, court cannot do anything. But, what you can do is buy some jewellery from her again and keep the receipt this time. Also, while purchasing put a mini-mic and camera installed in your chest area so that it can capture the entire transaction.

Why don't you post pictures of the $5,000 jwelery you bought or the appraisals you did. I think you are a fool to pay $5,000 without receipt!! If you are not stupid then you are posting to tarnish others reputation. If its the second be mindful that there are legal consequences: civil and criminal, for your actions.
