a friend of mine is in nepal now. he used the same route as you explained. I have not had the chance of asking him the experience but he mentioned the ticket was cheap, had two 23 kg/each luggage checked in for free and a carry on luggage too free. no delays in jfk or china. landed safely on time in ktm. big plane from jfk but small plane from china but that should not be an issue.

If you are on a strict schedule, then don't use this flight. They always tend to delay or cancel the return flight. Tried twice and had same experience both times. Also, requested vegetarian food and paid $25 extra while booking but in flight, got the meal with meat. When I requested for vegetarian, they just took the meat out of my meal with a plastic glove.
