I want to understand overall flow from creating AWS infracture using terraform to deploying J2EE application. Basically, when the jenkins build job is triggered for J2EE application, I want to know the automation steps up to deploying the app into aws EC2. Is there any docs or videos for such scenario? Or can someone please mention step by step?

Dear hellogorkhe, santosh, shawn, and others, Now is your time to shine. You should write your inputs here so that people here can know you are someone that people can learn from about devOps and you will have a good promotion without trying too hard. All the best! Last edited: 21-Sep-16 02:08 PM

Not a devops here but , but this looks like a decent article that has the configuration examples on creating the VPC upto application servers. https://www.airpair.com/aws/po... Good luck , and if you do make it work ....let us know. Yes , I want the hellogorkhe, santosh, shawn and GeekIT solutions marketers to show us what they are all about.

Not a devops guy but my first suggestion is try to break down the problem into simpler parts. I think the simplest part from an ops pov is terraform. How does terraform work? https://www.terraform.io/docs/... If you're from dev background, I imagine you'll prefer Jason as well. But either way looks fine. Now, AWS infrastructure is very complicated. The way I understand it, AWS is a lot of building blocks you use to compose to create your infrastructure. I have tried to work with ec2 but I haven't even scratched 1% of the potential because it feels like AWS is built for production teams and not students. So there is no safeguard. I know it is better screw up on own personal account than in production but I don't think I will ever encounter "enterprise grade" problems in my small PHP MySQL application. Haha. I'm sure you know more about J2EE because I know next to nothing about it. I am sure others will explain in better detail but my humble suggestion is to try to break down the problem and approach it from the least hostile part (I think AWS is very noob hostile).
