I got an offer for State Job. The requirement only states that one has to be legally allowed to work in US and doesn't talk anything about US citizen required or GC holder. Can EAD holder work for State government? Thanks,

Definitely yo. read dis so only time this doesn't apply is when, " An employer may restrict hiring to U.S. citizens only when required to do so by law, regulation, executive order, or government contract." . So all those jobs postings on indeed , dice etc who discriminate you for work permit for not having pr or citizenship are asking for a lawyer to fk their arse with a giant lawsuit and often posted by the dumb recruiter who was working for a call center before his recruitment job. . After all this is America and they justice is justice. from : https://www.justice.gov/crt/fr... : Q. What type of employer conduct is prohibited under the INA's Anti-Discrimination Provision? A. The Immigration and Nationality Act's (INA) anti-discrimination provision, codified at 8 U.S.C. § 1324b, prohibits four types of discriminatory unfair employment practices: Citizenship or immigration status discrimination with respect to hiring, firing, and recruitment or referral for a fee, by employers with four or more workers, subject to certain exceptions. Employers may not treat individuals differently because they are or are not U.S. citizens or because of their work-authorized immigration status. U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, recent permanent residents, asylees, and refugees are protected from citizenship status discrimination. Lawful permanent residents who do not apply for naturalization within six months of eligibility and work-authorized individuals on employment visas are not protected from citizenship status discrimination. An employer may restrict hiring to U.S. citizens only when required to do so by law, regulation, executive order, or government contract.

I hope you atleast have a green card. If not, how is it going to work? The state would definitely not sponsor for a green card . Haina ra?

Thank you @SidaNepali for your input. @Oh_Gaathe: You brought up a valid point but my spouse have a GC sponsoring employer. So, hopefully it will work out.

Then you should be good as long as you can have a continuous ead and green card transition.
