your parents can go to the bank and show them your I-20 and make a cashier's check which they can send it to you. i doubted anybody will exchanged money like you proposed unless there is a significant cut on the exchange rate. there is also a risk to transfer money to a stranger in the US. for example, if i send you money and you do some illegal stuff and get caught, that money will create a link between you and I . good luck.

dolphin - thanks but will i be able to cash the cashier's check here in US in dollars? and will they not charge a lot for doing that? i mean the bank in Nepal as well as the bank where i cash the cheque here in US? and i know it is hard to believe a stranger but i guess its a matter of trust. i am a university graduate student.

dolphin is right you wont be able to get it for your first installment on jan 9 though. or use "hundi" if you know someone who does that in Nepal.

tyo exchange rate lagne le garda ta hajur harulai sodheko, aba kasaile Nepal pathaunu parne nai cha bhane ta wahan ko paisa re mero paisa ni jogincha bhanera matra ho, wire transfer ta chadai cha but 3 installments ma mangaunu parcha ra tyesko exchange rate plus fees jodda dherai paisa jancha.

hera bhai.... sidha kura prasta bichar....to send money from here to nepal is not much. anything over 2-3k is free from muncha and other website. so why would anyone be in this jhamela?? aba 8 deen ma kaha bata manchhe khojera paisa pauchha ta first sem ko lagi? dont waste time...do what dolphin said above.
