I am applying for an MRP, but I don't have my original citizenship card, only copies. The nepalembassyusa.org website states that it will take longer than the normal 3 months to process if I only provide copies. Has anyone had a similar experience? If so, how long did it take you to get your MRP? Last edited: 25-Oct-15 10:23 AM

If you are in nepal and on a reliable place it is never going to be late as you have mentioned. First get the duplicate copy(approved by government) of your citizenship card. It will take less than a day then you can apply for the MRP.(the whole process will be done within 15 days )

@Saugat Shrestha I'm not in Nepal and I'm not sure what you mean by "copy(approved by government)"

I'm not in Nepal. According to the website, the normal processing time is 3 months.

The website is correct. If you send original nepalese citizenship certificate, the passport department in Nepal issues passport just based on that reference within normal processing time of 3 months. If you send photocopy of the citizenship certificate, they will verify your photocopy with the corresponding District Administration Office from where that certificate was issued. So depending on where your DAO is, it might take a loooong time. It's Nepal again, they will not verify electronically.
