So my case is, Current DL expired. Pending H1b extension, need driving license. Rule of 240 is there but DPS wherever I have visited they don't know and didn't process my driving license renewals. Anyone done ? any specific DPS ? please suggest..

Go to Washington state. Have a valid address there in WA where they could send your DL to. Fees are little higher (about $80). Make sure license is still valid (not expired). No questions asked. Takes about a day. And you can come back to TX.
