Yes, I also got last night, they sent on Sept 8. The date starts from the card printed date on 8/24/2015 to 12/31/2016. The 18 months counted from June 24,2015. However, I have not received any mail for TPS decision. I don't understand why they sent EAD before and they even say, if TPS is denied, EAD will be cancelled. Crazy US immigration rules.

@ ProblemSolver If your TPS is pending for longer period they will send EAD before TPS if you become eligible "Step 5: USCIS Determines Work Eligibility If you are not seeking an employment authorization document (EAD), skip to Step 6. If you are ... Then... Applying for TPS for the first time and seeking an EAD USCIS will review your case to determine whether you are eligible to work before we make a final decision on your TPS application. If you are found to be eligible upon initial review of your TPS application (prima facie eligible) you will receive an EAD. Note: If your application is denied and you choose to appeal to the USCIS Administrative Appeals Office (AAO) or request review of your application by an immigration judge, your EAD will be extended while you are waiting for a decision. @ Luvraj, Thanks, I am working under my CPT, F1, and don't want to use this EAD to show I am working 40 hrs and going college at same time, which violates F1 rules as USCIS says and many students have posted in the thread after discussion to thier DSO. is anyone in same boat? I want to show USCIS, I was working under CPT, when filing my GreenCard. If I leave my college now, then my F1 will not valid and after TPS it might be difficult to gain back, as I am not currently affiliated with big universities.

@ProblemSolver How you come to know like it's a violation of F1 status by working 40 hours or more than that even after TPS AND EAD GOT APPROVED. Looks like your DSO is not familiar with TPS EAD. I have informed my college about TPS for Nepal and they send email to all the Nepalese student of my college about TPS.

@ ProblemSolver Working on CPT or OPT for F1 student, USCIS has really not given any clear information. Even in the post all it says is you have to fulfill individual requirement for each status but they haven't made it clear by saying "yes you can work " or "No its not allowed" or anything similar. Instead they have asked to discuss with your DSO. So from what I gather its upto your DSO if he is going to report your working off campus and how. Despite everyone else mentioning some DSO telling them you can't work I know someone who went to talk to there DSO and was told to apply for TPS and start working. @datamap, I guess the effective date will be June 24,2015. Since, the EAD ending date is Dec, 2016, which is 18 months from June, 2015. I don't understand, they are saying they provided for 18 months, the 18 months countdown should be from the day TPS will be approved.

I know people with pending Asylum who got license with EAD and they did not ask anything. When you apply for license, DMV check your legal status, so I am not 100% sure if they gonna give license before TPS approved. I would suggest you to go to DMV and do all the written, driving test. If they give you DL, that's awesome. If not by the time your TPS get approved, you will be ready.

@npeal07, Until and unless your TPS approval letter is in hand, do not drop from any other status. Just getting EAD does not mean you will get TPS. And until your TPS gets approved, your EAD is not valid.

@nepal07 your DSO is very nice, my DSO already terminated my sevis because I didnot register for classes that semester, and it happened right after I applied for TPS. So for me, my career is USA is over after the TPS is over.

@datamap I think there is still hope for you. When they accept your document, then your status will be on exempt. The time your SEVIS got terminated you were on TPS exempt status, so you never went out of status. There could be chances that you can reinstate your SEVIS right now, or you can apply for another F1 (SEVIS) after TPS expires.

There is no other way (that is easy) other than marrying a citizen. Having said that TPS will be renewed atleast a couple of times. So u will atleast get 5-6 yrs to find a way.

@suvaratri nothing to do with being out of status. have seen a couple of out of status guys (including mine) get approved and receive our TPS approval letter and EAD. could be the way you fill up your form (we applied through lawyer ) and continuous presence evidence (since june 24) you submitted or some other discrepancies. unless you have some SERIOUS criminal issues, you should be fine. its only matter of time. hausala rakha ra chaati thulo banau. I got EAD but no result on TPS yet. Should I re-apply for SSN as I have the one what we get as a student or the same one will work.

Sathi haru, I applied TPS on July 6th, document received on July 10th, biometrics on Aug 10th and EAD received on September 10th but CASE is not approved yet. Is anyone on the same boat? Info will be really helpful. Thanks.

TPS and EAD finally approved after long wait !! In my case RFE was received. After RFE is responded, case was approved exactly after a month.

Guys i need help on tps problem when i went to biometric on 1st October office they given application form and there i have to write my receipt number .. in my I 821 there was 2 receipt number like LIN1*********1-LIN1*********2 but i have only written the last one LIN1*******2 did not received the first .it will make any problem ? what can i do? today i checked my status with both receipt number and it says like this Fingerprint Fee Was Received On August 31, 2015, we accepted the fingerprint fee for your Form I-821, Application for Temporary Protected Status, Receipt Number LIN***********1. On October 13, 2015, we mailed your new card for Receipt Number LIN159*********, to the address you gave us. I know this question might have been answered quite a bit, but I just received my i821 approval notice with the following information on it: "While you are under Temporary Protected Status, you: (3) will be considered as being in, and maintaining, lawful status as a nonimigrant for purposes of adjustment of status under section 245 of the Act and for change of status under section 248 of the Act;..." Now, my Extended OPT expires in November 2015 and my Labor certification for GC is in progress. Do I still have to go to school and maintain my F1 status or can my status be changed from TPS?

@Karnali: i goth the tps while i was on end period of OPT at the same time i was approved on h1b so now i am working on h1b from OCT 1.I am not touching TPS EAD until and unless there is emergency i mean if anything happen to h1b.So, I am just keeping TPS as for BAckup.And also planning to go to nepal for stamping by taking AP from TPS so if my h1b is not stamped also, i can come back through TPS AP.Hope it clears.Let me know if you need more doubt. @rajsekar, I also applied for TPS and got it approved. I have my H1b stamping done last year. Do I need to take AP to travel to Nepal or can I go on H1b. What will be the immigration status when you enter into us? If you enter into existing stamped H1b from nepal to US, what will happen to TPS since in TPS you have to take AP to travel and viceversa. You will get the paper approval of TPS in mail by 3 weeks.

@Ohio: In my understanding if you go to Nepal without AP your TPS status will be cancelled.So i guess you have to choose one status while entering to US. I would suggest you to consult with Lawyer Before travelling.I am planning to do the same. Regards, Raja

@bostonceltics123 i am in the same situation. EAD got approved in August, I even received Advance Parole already, but my TPS is not approved yet. I called customer service but they didn't have an answer. The guy submitted a service request for me but the only response from the service request was that I have to wait for another 60 days and if I don't hear anything until then, I should inquire again. @RKY, As long as your status is pending you are legal even-though your Visitor visa is expired. You can continuously start working with your EAD. If your TPS is denied, then its a different story !! good luck.

@ Rajsekar: i did not provide any supportive document, i just mentioned that i wanted to visit my family and celebrate tihar at home in nepal which i haven't been able to for past 7 years. According to my attorney, 'visiting family' is sufficient explanation. since i wanted to visit Nepal mainly to celebrate tihar, i put 11/5/15 as date of intended departure (because tihar started from 11/9 this year) and my advance parole was issued with validity from 11/05/15 - 02/06/16, which is only 3 months. i am also given multiple entry permit for this time period so i am allowed to travel to nepal more than once within this 3 month time period. someone i know also applied for advance parole through tps and his advance parole has validity of 1 year. it took 1 month for them to issue advance parole for me. hope this answers all your questions.

@Rajsekar i don't know why they only gave me 3 months, wish i knew yes, i already traveled with AP - experience wasn't bad - i was a little anxious mainly because i haven't received TPS approval yet, but i knew that i was allowed to use AP since i had consulted with my attorney and also with an immigration officer at local USCIS office - most of the people at the airport and even at immigration checkpoints aren't aware of advance parole - they were confused and asked me what it was - after i tried explaining they would go ask someone else (supervisor i believe) and then they would let me pass. so it was a bit annoying, not as smooth as having visa, but it was fine p.s. bro haina, sis ho ;)

i already had EAD through my J2 visa and I applied for TPS but not EAD. My TPS approval is pending and previous EAD will expire in May. Will my previous EAD auto extended after TPS gets approved? if not can I apply for new EAD after TPS gets approved?? Confused... help guys!!

@tymes, you cant use your J1 EAD after its expiration if you didnt file TPS EAD. You dont have to wait for TPS approval to file EAD

Hey guys, I am filing my TPS today and do not need an EAD. As suggested in USCIS site, I should not check any of the three boxes at the top of Form I-765 where it states “I am applying for". Beside that, do I need to fill every single information like if I am applying for an EAD? Questions 12 a. asks if I have removed or deported which I answered "No". Following questions 12 c and 12 d doesn't apply since I answered "No" in 12 a. So, should I leave 12 c and 12 d empty or should I answer as "No" in both? Please let me know guys. Thanks
