TPS and F1 Status!

Hello all, Over the past few days, I have rummaged through various forums regarding TPS and F1 student status. The general consensus seems to be - Students must maintain their status in an event they want to continue education again after the TPS period is over. I completed my Master last summer('14) and was working on OPT till this May. However, my petition didn't get picked for H1B and as a result I joined college again for second masters, acquired CPT and continued to work for the same company. I pay a good amount to attend the current school and the quality of education there is immeasurably appalling. I feel like, a piece of dies every time I go there to attend classes. The money spent there can go a long ways here or back home. Recently, I have asked my employer if they can help me in GC process, in which they seem to be interested, but have conveniently taken their own sweet time. Also, while I may qualify for EB2, they are adamant EB3 is the right fit for audit purposes and obvious financial reasons. Since May, the lawyer filed Wage Request PERM AD and asked me to call end of July. As per him, I should have documents within a year, that allows me to work without CPT. I'm not sure if what he is promising is attainable, as I understand there is quite a back log for EB3 applications. So would it be wise to continue school and protect my F1 status while in TPS just in case GC process doesn't go through as planned? If it is at all possible, I would love to take some time off from school and concentrate on work. So what should I do? What avenues can I pursue in this situation? Any help/suggestion is appreciated. Thanks for reading through my ramblings.. Thanks, BT

I think TPS is the way to go because going college till today's date after spending a decade already I felt like I am career student without a penny in the bank. So TPS is big time relief. Enjoy it And keep working on your greencard. Even if it doesn't work out you can come to F1 status after the TPS expires. 18 months of relief & hopefully more. The money that you would spend could be used for later immigration issues if you happened to have any.

Exactly a similar situation that I am facing. Currently working on OPT, going to apply TPS with work authorization. My employer has agreed to sponsor for Green Card, either EB2 or EB3 not sure as of yet. I have a Master's degree and over 2 years of experience, so I guess EB2 is the way to go. But to avoid audits and to lessen the financial burdens, EB3 might also be a good option, given the backlog for EB3 is not a huge one. I will be following this thread in expectation of some valuable information others are willing to share. Jai Nepal!!
