Where you applying from ? If you are applying from US, you need specific documents depending upon your current status. You just need to fill out the application form, attach required documents and apply online. Once it is approved, they will inform you to send your passport.

In that case you might want someone from Canada to send an invitation letter/mail to visit them along with their documents (citizenship/PR/VISA information).

it normally takes 25-35 days to get the visa once you apply+ 10-20 days to get your visa stamped. Just like damauli guy said fill that form for free and it will tell what documents are needed, and if you qualify or not.
