Alright Saathiharu, Help me out with this one. I am trying to play a safe game of making money by depositing my SAVINGS in A Fixed account. Baneshwor KO EVEREST BANK offers 5% Interest for Fixed Deposit. That means 1 lakh fixed account ma rakhyo bhaney mahina ma Rupees 5000 aauchha, which I think is not a bad return. Do you guys know which other banks have better interest rate for customers. I found that Local Finances offer a higher interest rate at 6-7% but as you All know FINANCEs are always risky. I appreciate genuine responses. Aa Aafno experience share garum Saathiharu.

Alright Bond Kumar Nepal G, mahina ko 5000 haina barsa ko chai 5000 ho. Interest jailey ni per annum huncha..Fixed deposit ko jamana gai sakyo...invest in some business instead...

Thank you for correcting me, Ho you are right, it is per annum, I probably was absent minded when I was typing the post above. But don't you agree that- ABA bhanum ma sanga 40 lakh chha rey, For Example, 5% interest rate ma nai Mero Monthly Rupees 16000 aauchha. Okay I understand business is a far better idea if I want to make it big, and on the flip side it is risky. Tara If I choose a safer alternative do you think it is a bad idea? Also thanks for replying KhotoKarma- Why don't you spill some business idea- I might try it if I like the idea.

Inflation in nepal hovers around 10%, You are getting 5% that means you are loosing 5% of your money every year. If inflation is arround 8% you are losing 3% of money every year/ Governemnt in Nepal not controlling these things, that is very sad. bunch of people making money out of nothing because of this low interest rate For example at present inflation in US ia arround 1%, bank also gives you inetrest arround 1% so value of your money remians constant. And even if you lose, you lose only 0.25% of your money That is aceptable risk But In nepal interest on fixed deposit is 5 % means way below inflation ( inflation is devaluationof money). Usually in most of the country banks are supposed to give interest rate either above the inflation or par to the inflation So,it is always good to start your own business in Nepal. If you are not in a situation to start business ,you need a help of your relatives.. Buy a land, ana ko 5 lakha ma .you will be able to buy 8 ana.leave that for 10 years it will become double very easily. That means you will not lose any money value of your money ( purchasing power) will remain constant on the other hand fixed depositing your money at 5% for say 10 years will reduce value of your mony ( purchasing power) by at least 25% If you want to invest in stock market in us, Invest in stockswhich gives you devidend, Itmay be a good time to buy oilstocks which give devident. choice is yours.

Forbes has article on it.. with 40k I can buy almost 35 ounces of gold bar. But where will I keep it?

I do not know any country which gives the interest rate on savings/fixed deposit more than the inflation rate of the country. The interest rate on no risk investments such as fixed deposit can never be more than inflation, because if the interest rate is more, the inflation will automatically increase. The more money people have, the more the inflation rate will be.
