Would IRS know partial enrollment on insurance for prior year? But when taxes were filed, it was actually filed having insurance for the entire year.

Don't quote me on this, but I think you will be fine this year (2014 taxes filed in 2015) as long as you aren't unlucky and get audited. From next year, IRS will require taxpayers to submit proof of insurance, so no one will be able to lie. As for this year, I doubt they have the resources or desire to check.
