I have always been one of those people who kept very strong feelings/nationalistic views for Nepal. Like many of us who had spent years studying in the US or any developed countries, I have always felt that I should do something for Nepal and contribute my knowledge towards its economic, social and public prosperity. It is something that anybody living back home could possibly ever understand. Definitely not with the same level of urgency. Nepal is a beautiful country, but living in Nepal is like living in a shithole surrounded with shitty people and their shitty attitude. Forget about, basic necessities, such as water, gas, hospitals, schools, old age housing.. There are thousands of problems in Nepal that could ever be fixed in our lifetime. I was absolutely wrong to go about envisioning a better Nepal before I recently spent a couple of months in Nepal. Trust me there is nothing we can do in Nepal. Nepal is already under zombie-attack. We have rotten politicians, our system is corrupt (you need to visit some government offices while you are in Nepal to understand what corruption really means). Your parents/family/relatives everybody seem to be consumed by preconceived notions 'a mental-virus' inherited from generations. You affirm your higher social stature with the ostentatious display of things that you could hardly afford or by pretending yourself to be what you are not. We have temples everywhere and not a single public toilets. Ani Pashupati Mandir ko nyano parkhaal bhitr dhunga ra bagmati ko tir ko chiso aakash muni sadak baalbaalika suteko dekhna parcha. Ani mandir ko bhitta bhitta ma chai porn channel nai huncha baba. Yesto pani kun chetan mastiska le justify garna sakcha.. Everybody is so much indulged in dharma karma that they don't have time for real knowledge and when you try to put sense in people, they will come after you like wild hornets. It is very hard to change people's mentality particularly when deeply rooted social and cultural values are at stakes. I am already tired of educating about jaat bhat in my own family...bhaisi ko agadi beed bajaye jasto huncha.. Man fkk nepali culture. So what is Nepali culture?? The primary tenets of Nepali culture are that you Respect your elders(or bow down to their heels), be obedient, follow whatever your parents do/teach. Always look after your relatives, always do them a favor. No matter how crippled the people are, nepotism always works in Nepal. This is why we have Sushil Koirala as a Prime Minister. ...Man don't even waste your time on it. Wherever you are, do something significant for humanity, human development in general, but please stop worrying about Nepal. Garho cha babai Nepal banauna.
