A tricky situation has arisen and I was wondering if someone could help rectify the error/mistake on my buddy's part. He is a naturalized US citizen that entered Nepal using his Nepali pp. Technically, he should've used his US pp and applied for visa. How should he go about rectifying the error? Since his Nepali pp/citizenship is automatically voided, his stay is illegal. Can someone care to enlighten/share some ideas? Thx. P.S. he was stupid enough to enter Nepal showing his Nepali pp because he thought he could get away w/ not paying visa fees by showing his Nepali pp. Last edited: 19-Dec-14 01:56 PM

My God, never seen people like you buddy. What an insane thought. He is in deep shit now. Don't know how he will overcome this. He might end up being custody in Nepal. Nobody does such a stupid act and no one can help him.

I knew two people who had done same thing, I don't recall whole thing but they went nepal with Nepali passport even if they got us passport . They came without a problem but I don't know how they did, it was almost 4 years back

I would engage an immigration lawyer (if such a thing exists in Nepal) and have him/her consult with the authorities. Because only right authorities can answer this question and I wouldn't want him to be arrested during asking a question 'naively'. I cannot wrap my head around his desperate idea of avoiding $30, being an US citizen. How does this make sense?

Everybody does something as stupid as this, IDK2013. He assumed that he could enter Nepal on a Nepali pp and return back showing his US pp w/o realizing that his stay would be deemed illegal for not possessing a valid visa on his US passport. Anyway, he'll most likely schedule an appt w/ the embassy first. What makes his situation trickier is his departure (honeymoon) scheduled for next week.

As long as he can have port of entry to TIA on his american stamp, he should be good. So I would suggest visiting "ParRastra Mantralaya," or whatever related facilities & pay some fine. Remember the problem you will have is during your port of entry in US, they will check your passport. In fact, I was questioned for about 10 min like where, why, how long and bunch of BS questions while I returned using US passport, to the contrary didnt face any problem while travelling in green card. So, talk to officials and ready to pay fine to get that stamped. Good Luck, hope you ll make it safe and sound without any hassles !!

Holy $hit. WTF. Yeah I think it's good to consult with a lawyer in Nepal. He will end up paying much more than $25/$50 in addition to any lawer fees and fines, but hopefully he won't end up in Jail. I don't think you want to take a chance at the Airport. Officials are very cautious about laws these days since everything is published in newspapers and there are undercover CIAA agents as well. He will also need to turn in his Nepali passport and citizenship card since that's required by Nepalese law.

I think best way is to go to india first and then reenter nepal with a valid visa through TIA. And this time with valid visa

Goddamn how does that even make sense given his situation. First he needs indian visa, for that he needs to go to embassy. He is already in the country illegally. Man think before u talk..

Deport him. If he have any property in Nepal, confiscate it. Freking illegal immigrant.

What is the hell you are so mad with the guy who got citizenship in other country? You should channel you anger in right place and make it productive. We know many Maoists who were the killer of 20K innocent Nepali also got the asylum. But you cannot mix them together unless you can pinpoint. Regarding confiscating property: can you raise a voice against them? Those who 20K Nepli killers and accumulated over Trillions of rupees. You coward: How about all those Indians got Nepali citizens and within 10 years our population went up by 40% , can you confiscate their property too?
MaGorkhe1 · Dec 21, 2014 12:18 PM
Dude, where you got 40% no?. So called Indians/ madeshes are all our brother and sister. Pardon my ignorance, i used to call my fellow southern Nepali, bhaiyaa, yes it is a nice word,"brother" but same as calling African Americans,"nigger or nice way negro". I am not mad at citizens of the planet having green, blue and red passport. I am mad @ abusing the purpose. You may have passports from mars but once you enter Nepal, get the proper visa, you go to certain place, you pay the entry permit. I know. Its not fair but obeying by law, pay the foreigners price for plane ticket etc.. since, Nepal do not have dual citizenship, any property in Nepal is no longer valid. You choose to revoke Nepali citizenship, then bear the consequence...
