Away - Part 1 (first attempt on short story - feedback encouraged)   It was Arvin's first summer in America. Last Fall he came all the way from Nepal to this small college town and joined the University. He still remembers the day he landed. His International coordinator came in a big van to pick him and few others from the International Airport. They drove nearly two hours back driving through miles and miles of corn fields in either sides of the highway. Arvin kept waiting for tall skyscrapers and busy streets. When the coordinator said they reached their destination, he was surprised. This is not the American he imagined. This is no where close to the movies he grew up watching.   Nine months just flew by. Class, assignment, presentation, groupwork, papers, exams and work was daily routine. He can't afford to get B else he's not going to get in state tuition scholarship. No time for fun. Weekend was time for catch up while his American friends were recovering from hangover. But not tonight. It is last day of Spring. Exams were over, all papers due were turned in and no work tomorrow. His group mates from Marketing class invited him to a party at one of their apartment. Usually he would make some excuse and turn down. Tonight he wants to go. He always had feeling for one of his group mate, Jessica. But he would never approach her. Never dared to ask her out. He couldn't. He was always broke. He didn't even have enough money for a cup of coffee. He felt ashamed.   It was 8 pm and he is nervous. He is anxious and shaking. All he wanted was to hold Jessica, feel her smooth skin, comb her hair, smell her sweet perfume and kiss her beautiful lips. He keeps his eyes locked at her as she walks away and starts dancing. He sees Sam looking at him, then turning away and looking at Jessica and looking back at him. He notices so looks away. He raises his beer bottle without realizing it's empty and tries to drink. Frustrated, he throws it in the can and walks towards the kitchen to get another one. "You have a crush on her, don't you?" he hears. He turns around and ..........................
