I graduated last month. I will get my OPT card by the end of this month and my work date in OPT is around the end of this month. I plan to join Indian consultancy. My questions are about the h1b visa. I have completely no idea how this thing works so my questions might be naive. 1. When can i apply for h1b visa? Since the employment end date in my OPT card will be Jan 2015, when is the best that i should apply h1b so that i don't have to join college next year to maintain status? 2. Who will apply for my h1b? My employer i.e. the Desi consultancy or the office where i will work? 3. If Desi consultancy will apply for my h1b, do i need to be done training and have a job offer from their client in oder for the consultancy to apply for h1b or they will apply my h1b as soon as i join them and start training? 4. Any suggestions about what things i should be careful when searching a consultancy? I plan to take online training. Looks like they charge some money if the training is online. I am okay with that but i dont want to be in a situation where they take my money, train me a bit and don't find me a job or apply my h1b. 5. Any good and reliable consultancy you can refer me to? Thanks guys!

Hello, If you are planning to join a consultancy, they as your employer are going to file your H1B. For this process the employer has to submit your application by April 1st of 2014. If you are planning to take courses online email us at saibersysinc@gmail.com. Saibersys Inc is a Texas based IT consulting company and will help you with free training and job placement.

Pepsi, You mentioned your opt is expiring in jan 2015, so then you will not make it in april 2015 for h1b. So you will have to file your h1b in 2014, and since you are on opt may consultancy wont file h1b unless you are on on project by at least march 21st. So my advice, find a consultancy soon and get a job. even if you dont make it for this year, there are others ways to make it in 2015. if you need any help on this, let me know.
