Their marketing is pretty good. I was marketing through techgene before because everyone said it was good but I didn't like it so I switched to Vastika and I got a job within two weeks. To start you will me making decent money almost same as other indian consultancy. They are really helpful than comparing it to my last consultancy company I was with. You can always negotiate the rate before you join,they will work it out because they are getting business through you.

If anyone says Vastika is good than probably they have not seen marketing of Indian consultancy. They are surviving just because many Nepalese do not know other consultancies. I have friends they quit Vastika because they could not find them job for 6 months. In one word: "Avoid".

Their so called Nepalese marketers treat OPT students like a shit. Thank God i did not have to go through this bogus consultancy. I applied for a junior position through dice and happy with it. The company took time to train me for 2 months and now i have been with this company as a full-time employee. Lot of us, do not have courage to look for job on our own and this is what this fake consultancies are taking advantage of. Dice has many openings of Entry-level jobs. And they start with 60 K to 65K on IT. But you should have a degree on computers though. Anyways, all the best with your first project.

I was with an Indian Consultancy before and yes I have seen their marketing, Yes you get more calls and emails from there but most of them are useless, they submit your profile for everything like 8 years 10 years 12 years they don't care. SO what's the use of all that stupid lot of calls where it's even hard to survive.

I ma trying to get junior level positions on my own, but its tough. the moment they know you are on opt and require sponsorship, they wont consider you any further. Very few might be getting jobs through this route, but it is definitely worth a try, and if it doesnt work then, dho consulting is last resort..

nepaliguy if you know so much about different Nepali and Indian consultancies then why don't you name some of the good Indian consultancies that you know or your friends have been to? if you want to suggest, be constructive and help someone. no one cares for your two cents. acer talked about his experience with Techgene and Vastika but you haven't said anything specific besides saying indian consultancies are better but failed to name ANY good Indian consultancies. you claim to have seen the marketing of Indian consultancies so please enlighten fellow Nepalese who are in search of this mystical answer that you seem to know. Also, you go rambling about "this" company that trained you so good and you have been working flawlessly, care to share the details of "this" company??????

The first thing about Vastika is, it is all scam. No proper training. Unprofessional resumes. The whole firm is run only due to Nepalese graduates and those who had DV Green Card. Worst of all! No proper response, carelessness results to out of status. When you call this firm they we reply you back after 2 weeks or so... Even pay is very less in compare to other consulting firm. Does not even pay you 50% what company usually pay. Other Consulting firms starts with 70% of total pay. Even worst, salary won't be re-evaluated after working for 3 or 6 months. My frens said "Greg will never pick up the phone in office or cell especially when you have to talk to re-evaluate your salary." My suggestion to Nepalese fren would be, better be safe than sorry because you definately don't want to put your career in such careless and scam institute. One of my friend was almost put to out of status. The told him they filed his H1 but they did not. Alternatives are searching at Dice and Monstor: For Java deloper: http://www.dice.com/jobsearch/... @nepaliguy1982 timi Bardan Chalise ta hoina?  I have worked with Vastika, Infact my first placement was from Greg's company. They are definitely not the best consultancies but they are not as bad as you have presented them to be. Look, if you worked yourself to the entry-level job and you haven't been through marketing process you donot how marketing process works and you say your friend was treated bad by Vastika coz he didnot get the job - have you ever thought He was worthless-dumb[Disallowed String for - bad word]?   anywho, Just be careful before spreading negative things about someone/somebusiness or anything if you are not directly related to it.   ani...@acer tips for you: dont panic, get to know the people, ani if you dont know something just act like you know it..google it...sabai kura sodhnu hunna!! and wait..things will get better with time... If still doesnot work, max they can do is fire you and Greg will find you another job..lol aaba you can get through the interview--easy-pzy and January coming up...new year -new job!

I am not trying to take side of anyone here but @nepaliguy1982 's response is really pathetic and biased  @nepaliguy1982: Here is my experience. I graduated this May and definitely I had no other options but to join one of these consulting firms as I was tired of looking for entry level jobs and being asked for GC every time. I went to your so called good Indian consultancy and met you Brad Chalise. First of all I didn't like his attitude and they way he talked to me for one hr. All the consultant are spoon fed oh and I forgot to mention even the vendor calls are handled by employees. I think thats SPOON-FEEDING. If thats one of the reasons why u called that as a best one then dude GOODLUCK. And next thing, I am proud to say that after checking out 6 consultancies including BreignInfotech, I liked vastika most of all. I got training and I got the job within a week. Marketing was good and YES I DID HANDLE MY OWN VENDOR CALLS AND TECH SCREENING.  ANA YEA ON MY FIELD, VASTIKA IS PAYING ME 8K (Average) THAN REST 6, and to be more specific 13K MORE THAN YOUR BEST BRAD CHALISE. I HAVE 2 FRIENDS ON SAME FIELD WORKING FROM BRAD'S CONSULTANCY AND I CAN PROUDLY SAY THAT I WAS LUCKY AND WISE TO CHOOSE VASTIKA. ACEROS: Man, dont worry about it because once u get hang to it, it will be easy but prepare urself to give ur 100% in ur first project. It will be hard and stressful but doable. In worst case even if you get fired, they will find a diff job for you. Remember December is the easiest month to sustain at your job but hard month to find a new job. I hope you understood what I am trying to say.

Don't know why everyone is discussing about different topic, ACEROS is asking about experience after going to job. I went through similar situation when I started. 2. First thing is, you should have some knowledge of front end and back end technologies in addition to java. Java does not the only thing you will use in a project. HTML, JSP, CSS, JQUERY, Javascript, SQL, Hibernate, JDBC, XML is minimum thing you should have idea about. if you dont know any of those, start getting some information. 2. Learn about common J2EE frameworks like Spring, Struts 2 and webservers like JBOSS, websphere, tomcat. ( you can ask the company what technology stack they use for their project) 3. Find someone to support you in case of emergency. 4. Make good links in the work place. But dont share your real story to anyone. Not even nepalese. 5. ONLY ONE IMP thing is to show confidence. don't be like Chicken on salt. If u need any help contact me.

Acer05 - since this is your first project, it is natural to be a little nervous. I was also in your shoes a few years back, not in Java but in the IT. I think the most important thing is to have confidence and not show fear - even when you don't have any clue what people are taking about! Like someone suggested, google or ask your consultancy for inputs, I am sure they will help you.   I got my training, marketing and first job with Vastika, and many of my friends are still with Vastika. I have interacted with a number of different Indian consultancies, and I am proud to say that I have found Vastika to be far better in terms of training, marketing, flexibility, pay and sponsorship. So, I can say with certainty that you are in good hands!   Just remember, what is the worse that can happen in your job, they will fire you and Greg will find you another job. It is strange how the  thread got diverted to vastika.@Acer, all the things I thought I should have known in my first project, I sent you an email few days ago . So have nothing to add on that.  For anyone who is interested in joining consultancy and comes to this thread , I will share my expereince with vastika as well.  I have been working with vastika for two years. I am okay with my pay. I never asked him for raise, and he has not raised it yet. So can not blame. Will ask soon. Could be a good bye call to them otherwise. The first time I submitted my documents for h1, it turned out to be  late. they did not submitted as soon as I submitted everything in person. In a week or so, quota was closed. So I was pissed off. Though I had chances in following year, that kind of sh*t can force someone out of status. So they were irresponsbile in this case. The following year, they filed it. I requested them to do it premium processing, and they upraged it immediately.  When I started, teacher who trained was not that good. Bu training was available. that time, vastika had less than 100 consultants ( around). By this time , they must have better tutor.  About resume, I was not forced to show 7 8 years experience. I always showed for 4-5 years. Never more than 5 years out of which 2/3 years was from nepal. Proxy were not available most of the time though he promised to find proxies.I was able to crack my own interview though it took few months.  Payment were/are never a single day late and it is biweekly which is way better , at least for me, than some other who pays monthly. Usually they pay one day ahead than the scheduled date. Marketting was okay. Phone used to ring from 7 am to 8 pm .Holidays mattered a lot that time than anytime else in my entire life. It was that painful. Someone had to drive me to starbucks if i did not want to miss any call. but it would be mostly because of layers of vendors.  They dont have direct client, so there would be few layers of vendors. Each vendor asks them to represent to client, so it is hard to track them properly.  At that time, I figured out that they provided our ( consultatnts) email address in job search kind of site which I think is only for consultancies ( no direct client). So lots of calls came and they did not know who my employer was. Lots of email came directly asking ssn , dob etc. So that was a pain to figure out if those emails and calls were actually scams. I dont know if it is still like that.  I dont think they consider percentage based to anyone . At least not for me. If you take all the calls, you will have your first client interview within first two weeks ( I had mine in first week).  When I started taking calls seriously , I had at least 4  client interviews a week. I am talking about end client.  If you miss few calls a day, they will definitely blame you as if you never picked a single call. basically,  Connsultancies are pimp, consultants are hoes. We can barely [Disallowed String for - banned word] them, its always them who  Fk us.
