I used to sell iphones on Ebay and Craigslist. Recently, prices for unlock code has gone up and profit margin has narrowed down. Is there anyone who sells item on ebay or craigslist for profit? I need some idea on what to sell other than iphones.... Thanks in advance, RM

I buy and sell in Craigslist almost every day. I make enough money to pay my rent and gas by buying and selling in CL. I used to sell in eBay as well but stopped using it when I lost money to scammers and PayPal doesn't care honest sellers at all. Any Apple products will make you money if you act fast in CL. I sell iPhones and iPads most of the time because they are easy to sell and they hold their value way longer than Android phones or tablets.

Thanks for the information Pepsi bro....I make roughly around $1000-1500 bucks per month, but now the profit margin has gone down significantly, so I want to try other items as well. So, how do you buy ipads? what kind of ipad do you prefer buying? How much you pay for them? and How much do you make on each item?  Thanks, RM

I am also on the same boat man. Was Making 2000+ easily per month but since the unlocking services down nothing at all. Need to work on low margin. That's sucks.

2000+/Month!! Are you kidding me? Wow. You guys are pro!

sajhamitra · Oct 25, 2013 6:36 PM

Sajhamitra, yup 2000+ a month is not that hard to make if you are really serious about this. The main thing is that you have to act very fast. Better deals don't last long. Check CL every few minutes (yes, that's what I do) and contact the seller right away. Most of the time seller are willing to negotiate on their asking price and that's where our Nepali negotiation skill helps a lot.

Ha ha ha u right Pepsi bro nepali negotiation skills really help a lot

Its really strange that the unlock price went up really high.Anyone knows the reason?

devilwithin999 · Oct 25, 2013 8:20 PM

@devilwithin, The AT&T unlock prices went up because AT&T wants to make sure none of the new iphone 5S and 5C gets unlocked, since Congress made it illegal to unlock phones manufactured after Jan 2013. Any bulk unlock request in AT&T database is an immediate flag. So, the vendors now have to survive on limited unlocks. Thousand unlocks a day has been reduced to 100.   Another thing to note, AT&T has the right to relock the iphone 5S and 5C because they were manufactured after Jan 2013, so don't be surprised when your customers ask their money back when their phones get locked back.

i was bidding on ebay and won the bid but I realized that the phone had a screen scratch and do not like to buy what happens if I don't buy

michigander · Oct 26, 2013 12:03 AM

Nothing just contact your buyer and tell him I did change my mind.

champ · Oct 26, 2013 12:35 AM

I did a lot but not for profit just  to get rid off unwanted items. Just do not want is not enough to return items you bought. if it has scratches more than the seller had described on the item selling, or the quality mentioned not matching.

@Still_Snake:I always buy apples iphones (mostly AT&T) and sometimes Verizon if I get an awesome deal, from craigslist. I would then unlock it and sell on eBay  and craigslist. I stopped selling on ebay after sometimes because I was paying a lot of money listing the item on ebay, ebay fees and paypal fees. Even then I was making decent amount of money selling on craigslist. There is still profit but not as much as I was making before because the unlock code prices went up.  Is there anybody who sells other items for profit? If so, what kind of items do you guys sell??

Although iPhone and iPad are the main thing I buy and sell in CL, I also sometime buy MacBook, if it's a very nice deal. Once I bought a 2012 MacBook Pro with extended apple care until 2015 for 600 dollars. It was just like a month after release. I sold it for 1000 next day. I could have sold it for 1100 but didn't wanted to wait long for expensive items. Try buying CD/DVDs in bulk and sell them in eBay, it's a slow process but u will make some money. Never buy Sprint iPhones because they cannot be unlocked and it takes a long time to sell it. I make lot of money by repairing iPhones, mainly broken screen ones. It is very very easy to replace the broken screen and you can make double (or even triple) money by doing this. If you don't know how to do this, YouTube it. You won't be disappointed by spending 10 bucks in iPhone repair tools. Also have extra LCDs on stock with you, also back cover. Android phones get outdated every fast so don't invest on older generation. It will be very hard to sell those phones. This is my personal experience with android phones.
