Hi friends, I have applied for OPT card just a month ago. I got a job offer but the offer is of hourly position (Civil engineering/ local company). Is ther a way that I could expedite the OPT since the employer wants me to start ASAP. Has anyone gone through the OPT Expedite option? IF yes please could you let me know how did u do it, i mean documents? Also, It's been a month and I heard that it could take three months more. So, If you suggest me to go through the OPT expedite, and chances of being it approved or just wait for the normal processing time? Btw it says in California Service center and its in initial review. I will be very grateful to your replies/suggestions.

^ Yup. You can't expedite it. It will take atleast from 60-90 days and also the start date will be as you wrote it down. You can't change it. Can't you talk around in the company to start as a unpaid intern or something untill you get your permit so that you can get that position ? Last edited: 08-Aug-13 02:01 PM

It usually takes At least 70 days from recieved day and even it come early than that u cannt start before the start dates mentioned in the card (you chose that while filling application ), set up and email alert about your case status

Have anyone of you gone through calling the USCIS and expediting OPT I saw this " All expedite requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and are granted at the discretion of the Director. The burden is on the applicant or petitioner to demonstrate that one or more of the expedite criteria have been met. The criteria are as follows: Severe financial loss to company or individual" Has anyone sent a letter stating a sever final loss to individual to expedite the OPT processing. ? Any inputs from the experienced seniors will be highly beneficial. Thanks,

My OPT card got approved yesterday in approximately 7 weeks time with OPT expdite with the help of local congressman. I was rejected first by USCIS when I tried to expedite it myself on the grounds of severe financial loss to the individual/company. Thanks for the replies :)
