Hey Guys; I am thinking to start Home-based Nepali / Newari food delivery in Houston Area. I was thinking to serve some kind of special food in each day that includes MOMO, Chaumein, Thuppa, Sekuwa, Achar, Choela,Chatamari, Bara etc etc. I need serious suggestion/comments I know it is taught in case of food business. How do I start this business from scratch?

oh i can tell you one thing..its that god forbid someone got any disease or like food poisoned or anything like that there has to be a basis on which you can be help responsible..so i guess you need to register your company get a license and stuff like that..not trying to discourage you..and i live in Houston and haven't had momo since I left Nepal 4 years ago..so you have a customer already..

i don't think it would be a profitable business unless you are a stay at home wife and want to do something with your time. you need to look at the logistics here to see if it is a feasible business without losing money. how many Nepalese people live around your area where you can deliver. how limited you want your menu to be so that you can limit your waste on food and speed up the delivery. you need to go though all these different questions.

Onless you expose your food to the locals you will not  be in break even , forget about making money. How often a Nepali goes to eat Nepali food.

How about opening a full-fledged Nepali restaurant? Its weird that with so many Nepali population, we have no Nepali restaurants in this part of the country. You could make it like the Himalayan Yak, in New York (http://www.himalayanyak.com/), Ah, I miss New York.
