" as fast as in US" ?? MNO are you kidding me? I was there last year and the actual speed was slower than a 56K modem in the US, like 10 years ago. It's fast to browse sites hosted in Nepal but not international.

My, Download Speed: 14.31 Mbps Upload Speed. : 6.27 Mbps Via speedtest.net MNO, now beat this!

For people who work in computer, there are net which is as fast as in USA. At my home it cost Rs 1100 per month as fast as in USA . Can watch all youtube videos and photo upload in facebook in a minute. Net speed also depends upon your computer processor. You must have gone to some cybercafe where they are using old style box computer. Yes they are slow, takes half hour to upload anything.

@mno, you don't know what you are talking bro. There is no way that ADSL Internet (128kbps regularly but they increased it to 184kbps for free for everyone) costing 1100 is as fast as that of US. I have used this service in my home, with a laptop with quad core processor (mentioned coz you said Internet speed depends upon processor as well), apple airport express but the speed was nowhere good. YouTube takes forever to load. Don't talk about cyber coz they are slow like hell. Summary: Unless you share the broadband Internet of a big bank, there is absolutely no way you can buy Internet speed that is even par with the US one.

We have a worldlink line. I don't know much about internet connectivity stuff. But my home internet works fast. http://www.worldlink.com.np/se... Last edited: 21-Oct-12 01:54 PM

Lmao. ...384kbps and you claim it as fast as in US.
rahashya · Oct 21, 2012 2:05 PM
@mno here is my internet speed ... i will put that in terms of kbps for you: 20.69 mbps = 21186.56 kbps (urs--> 384 :P) and FYI net speed doesnt really depend on your processor only!! it depends on several factors... too lazy to go into details however mostly your internet speed depends on bandwith from your ISP.. so sorry to say it's not as fast as in us" and a 5 min utube video in my apt takes seconds(around 6-10 seconds) to buffer not a minute :D

indeed eventhough i was paying Rs 2000 a month for ADSL from telecom, it was miserable to surf the internet or watch youtube in Nepal when i was there for couple of months this year. there are faster internet services in Nepal but nowhere near to the US standard and it would cost a fortune for FASTER internet connection at home.

in the worldlink link, what does the "sharing ratio 1:10" mean? someone share please
biwash prawashi · Oct 21, 2012 5:34 PM
sharing ratio means the no of line sharing same physical media path to access the internet. so 1:10 means that 10 customers will share same media path to internet.
alece · Oct 21, 2012 5:53 PM
1:10 ratio means 10 customer share the bandwidth equally. If I sign up for 128kbps ADSL, I will in real get Internet speed of 12.8kbps. Nepal telecom has this ratio of 1:8 whereas world link has 1:10(I beleive). How do I know? My brother works for Nepal Telecom. That's why even if we have signup for 128kbps, real download bandwidth is nowhere close to 128kbps. You can verify yourself by using speedtest software in Nepal.
