If you are a PHD holder form USA then you should not ask such questions here. PHDs are expert in researching about stuff no matter how long it takes 5 years 10 years 25 years. So you know what to do yourself better than sajha fellows. I heard you can get Gorkha Dakshin bahu by paying some money to netas. Who will remember you if you get it? Michael Jackson and Justin Beiber will be remembered everyday. But these Nobel prize winners will be remembered only when they receive it and when they die. They will be forgotton by next year. sahi ho ki hoina ta sathi ho.

If I'm not mistaken, you are talking about Mahendra Vidhya Bhusan (KA) which used to be conferred on Sikchhya Diwas (Falgun 12 gate). I don't know what is this medal called these days but they still award it on this day. I think if you contact Ministry of Education, you might be able to get some information in this regard.

 एम एन ओ जी,    यो नेपाल बिद्याभूषण (क) सबै मान्यता प्राप्त बिश्वबिद्यालयबाट पी एच डी गर्ने ले "तक्मा पाम" भनी निबेदन दिए दिनै पर्छ  र पाउछन पनि . नेपाल विद्याभूषण " ख " चाहि आफ्नो बिश्वबिद्यालयमा आफ्नो बिषयमा सर्बाधिक अंक ल्याउने मास्टर्स डिग्री धारी एक जनाले मात्र पाउछन  भने नेपाल विद्याभूषण "ग" चाहि एउटा विश्व बिद्यालय को ब्याचलर्स गर्ने ( जुनसुकै बिषयमा) मध्ये प्रथम हुने ले मात्र पाउने हुन्छ.

लु म नि छिटो छिटो PHD गरेर  "तक्मा पाम" भनेर सरकारलाई निबेदन दिनुपर्यो | It looks like just getting an accrediation from Nepal Education Ministry for your PHD degree. Yakku ji, That takma looks like a part of convocation robes with 3 blue stripes and a round cap nothing more than that. . It looks like in Nepal to give takma to all PHDs is a custom. Different countries have different ways of awarding degrees to different levels of education. To earn that, you need a degree thats it, I guess. For eg, in bachelors degree, you don't get to wear that V-stole, only if you get masters degree. For me that takma is same as V-stole which you get after PHD.

 जहाँ सम्म मलाई लाग्दछ , यो नेपाल बिद्याभूषण (( उहिलेको महेन्द्र बिद्या भूषण ) यस कारण सुरु गरिएको हो कि समयको त्यो कालखण्डमा विद्यावारिधि  गर्नेहरु बर्ष भरिमा एक जना दुइजना पनि मुश्किलैले हुने भएको र पी एच डी को महत्वलाई ध्यानमा राखेर पुरस्कृत नै गर्न  गरिएको हुनु पर्दछ. आज भन्दा १० बर्ष अघि पनि यो पदक पाउने बर्ष भरिमा २०-२५ जना नै हुन्थे ..  त्यसैले यो प्रोफेसर ले लगाई दिने  हुडी  मात्र हैन .    अहिले १०० भन्दा बढी ले आबेदन दिन्छन बर्ष भरिमा, अम्रिकाबाट पी एच डी गर्ने हरु त्यो भिडमा १० जना नै हुदैन होला. प्राय जापान, कोरिया , इजराइल र युरोप का अनि एक मुष्ठ छिमेकी देशबाट . नेपालबाट पनि अचेल पी एच डी  उत्पादन हुन थालेको छ. केही नक्कली पी एच डी धारिले समेत तक्मा पाएर फेशाबूक फोटो हालेको नि देखेको छु .

I don't have a PHD, but I can say this with certainty that those who are criticizing the ones who want the takma, don't have and are nowhere near getting the PHD. I understand that it doesn't hold much meaning and importance in today's context; but why the heck are some people hell bent on mocking those who apply for it? They want to get some sort of extra "endorsement" from the government, nothing wrong with that. Khaali khutta tanne matra?

Extra endorsement , v-tshirt aadi etyadi ta nam ko aagadi DR rakhna permission, US ko university ley convocation garera dei halchha ni, pheri yo Nepali takma ko lov chai PHD wala ko typical quality na hunu parna hoo. Sorry if I hurt someone's lovi nature, tara takma ko lovi lai lovi vanne right chha hai hamilai , yeslai khutta taneko vanna chai ali melana hai sathiharu.
