I thought you had to go to local IRS office and have it filed for the ITIN. You'd have two options, either you submit your tax there or wait until you get your ITIN number. My understanding is it takes about 3 weeks to get an ITIN number. If you apply at IRS, you don't need to wait for ITIN number. But if you plan to apply after getting ITIN, it might already be late to get the ITIN number.
