You get a medical document from doctor/hospital. Then make an infopass appointment at your nearest USCIS field office. Talk to the officer to expedite your already pending case. This would be a better option instead of calling customer service, creating a SR, mailing evidence to them .
Try to make to look more serious and urgent to travel. You may also take a copy of your itinerary . That helped me
