WebSite Help!!!

We group of friends are planning for a nonprofit organization to help unprivileged children towards their education and so forth back in Nepal. Around that, we want to create our own website to introduce our motives, plans, success stories and also request for help.

So my questions to IT gurus here is, what is the reasonable way to do it if we want it to be cheap and neat?
Are website builder services like WIX go or no go?
What would be the possible maintenance cost per year assuming it is a basic site?
All Dos / Don'ts and suggestions are appreciable.
