Check the airline's policy, it depends on airline and which route you take.
TV is treated as a checked baggage, while the weight of modern TV isn't an issue, the dimensions is what may incur you extra charge. Again, check Airline's website for specific dimension.
As for handling, use the the original packaging.
As for customs, yes you have to pay, and it's based on size (50 inches is more).
