Hello Amby,, i could not agree any less than you do on this idea that the people in eastern world treat anyone with white skin with unnecessary favorism over their own skin color. Showing mutual respect is one thing but to treat them like their shit do not stink is our own fault.
In nepal if police finds a nepali guy with his girlfriend in a hotel room they could easily be labelled for promoting prostitution and  become hot media sensation..while same does not apply if the same couple have bleached skin. If one walk around thamel with bleached skin and messy hair wearing dirty pjs and everyone would call him "sir"but if a nepali does that he becomes khate..
If a nepali tries to get married to a nepali girl,  the family starts looking at guy's family, jaat, social status and other items endlessly..and when the same guy/girl finds a bleached skinned person abroad( or a En Ar Eye for that matter these days..) he is exempted from all those concerns..
As long as double standard norms in nepal thrive this will go on..
