I had done the same calculations and I am actually impressed.
First of all, Diameter (864,575.9 miles) of the sun is a mathematical estimation. Same with distance. While theories of physics and mathematics are used for calculation, it still is not an exact measurement. You have to give some room for error/estimation. Given that, it is quite impressive that these numbers come out to be close to 108. Almost like golden ratio.
