Three kinds of madhesis

I know a few of that kind MlnNpl. It's just that you can't put everybody in that category. You don't have to be a Madhesi to ask for their rights.

Many people, rightfully, remember how Madhesis were treated in the streets of Kathmandu. That's what they have seen and then immediately make the connection that Madhesis were oppressed all these years so all of their demands should be met. The reality is more complex. Had you been to the actual Madhesh, you would have realized that the oppression was by different group of people. That very group of people are the so called leaders of Madhesi movement now.

What we tend to forget is it wasn't just the Madhesh, but the entire country was "oppressed." We aren't one of the poorest countries in the world for no reason. Go look at a Parvate dai and compare his life style with a madhesi bhai, you won't find much difference in their living standard - both are suffering. Yes, the representation in the government is not proportional, but that can be increased without dividing the country.
