Kathmandu, December 9. What would you do if yours was one of the photos used to denote ‘women’ at a public toilet used by thousands of people everyday; also imagine being totally unaware about it.

Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Ananda Prasad Pokharel
Well, that is just what has happened to a Nepali girl, who just posted the photo on her blog donning a traditional attire. Her photo was used by airport authorities, without her consent.

The story emerged after the news was reported on tourism minister Ananda Prasad Pokharel’s surprise inspection of the airport yesterday. News websites had published a photo of the minister inspecting the ‘infamous’ toilet of the international airport, and on the photo were pictures of a man and a woman clad in traditional attire.
The girl, whose photo was used by airport, contacted OnlineKhabar.com to complain about the photo. Upon investigation journalists found her claim to be genuine, and she had posted the photo on her blog in October this year.

“How did my photo end up at the airport?” the girl, who requested to remain anonymous asks. “How dare the government use my personal photo?”

When asked about the photos being used at the airport, airport authorities said the image were “from Google.”

Airport GM Dev Ananda Upadhyaya said that the image in question, and many other images from “Google” were already there when he was appointed to the post few months ago.

So the next time you go to the airport, make sure that none of the images used are yours!
