Nepathya is overrated

KtmRulez,
I respect your preference since it is not going to unduly inconvenience somebody else.

But,
I thought a lot of things in life were over-rated some years ago, SEX being one. Now that I understand more, my perspective (on it) is different. ;)

The question now is why is Nepathya or their music ( allegedly in your view ) popular among people.

A lot of Nepathya's songs gained prominence because of that melodious tunes ( सुमधुर ), irresistible funky beats ( नाचू नाचू लाग्ने ) , and folksy-styled ( झ्याउरे ) numbers. Here is what a refugee Tibetan guy , who had quite soaked up Nepali culture during his formative years in Kathmandu, had to say about that music genre, " ...are you kidding me?... Nepali jhaure folk music is even better than Raggae....". And Nepathya fans do vote for that popularity with their hard-earned money; that says something about how genuine this cross-generational popularity is. Jhyaaure music is something that is in a Nepali's blood and it appeals to us naturally.

With the spectrum of jhaaure songs to choose from Nepathya's live shows become even more fun to attend. Compared to other Nepali bands, Nepathya has had the largest live-venues be it in New York, London, and probably Dubai or Tokyo and many more.

Acclaimed vocalist Udit Narayan Jha once said to the effect of what the main attribute of a great song is its - melody/tunes. Nepathya's songs like "Chhekyo Chhekyo", "Yo Zindagani", "Aaganai Bhari" testify to that part of the allure.

Nepathya is unique and they sounds unique too. Here's what Amrit Gurung, the band's talisman, had to say after a live show abroad which reflects the band's primal philosophy:
"I don’t know if they liked it or not but what I felt was we were different and we sounded like a Nepali band. We have to sound like a Nepali band, that’s one of the basic foundations of Nepathya. There are thousands of rock bands in the world. There’s no point if a band sounds like Deep Purple or Led Zeppelin. That’s what I always say to my band members – we have to sound like a Nepali band. There are numerous guitarists who can play like Hendrix but what’s the point."
