Many think this is exception and several like to blame the dalit themselves. It's surprising that people in Kathmandu are not aware of it; they were either being blind or deaf or being dishonest. It is surprising that Hamal has to witness himself to be ashamed of being nepalese because of dalit issues. This has been going on forever; there're many news coverage of dalit discrimination. Dalits are discriminated in Kathmandu. It also surprises me that people are praising Hamal as if he did something nobel. He was sponsored to come there to do the drama so that "dalit" guy would fetch water with the help of "high cast" as usual. Because of crowd and hype, local thought "dalit" was going to get the water himself. This was the clarification given by producer of Sajha Sawal. Look at the originator and other people praising Mr. Hamal as if he did the magic. I've nothing against Mr. Hamal and credit goes to him for this coverage. Police were asked to come to help, but DIG of the area said the event was drama. Blame the police who always submit to the higher cast people and treat them as "raja sahebs" but always have an excuse when asked for the help from the ordinary people.
