Nepalis Associations all over the US have declared tomorrow an ethnic holiday for US based Nepali population. This is in response to a long battle in US senate to grant the favorable status of TPS for Nepalis. The TPS (Temporary Protected Status) grants legal status to all Nepalis residing in the US for 18 months whether or not they have legal status currently.
In order to celebrate this victory, Nepali Organizations all over the US are having Victory Parade in major cities in the US. Mayor of New York city Bill de Blasio has announced to close off Times Square for the TPS Victory Parade that will start at 10AM and move onto Central Park. Similarly there are Victory Parades planned in Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, San Diego, Dallas, Seattle, Houston, Denver, New Jersey, Nashua, Baltimore, Washington DC, and other major cities in the US.
The US marine choppers which had been used to transport relief materials to Nepal will bring back a truck decorated with flowers to be used during the victory parade.
There will be speeched by the following individual
- Nepali Ambassador to Nepal (EST - estimated speech time: 1 hr 28 mins)
- President ANA (EST - 1 hr 12 mins)
- President ANMA (EST - 1 hr 2 mins)
- President ANAL (EST - 1 hr 22 mins)
- President GBLU (EST - 47 mins)
- President ANSKA (EST - 42 mins)
- President KALEYBHALU(EST - 12 mins)
- President NFSS will give the concluding statement. NFSS is the new organization Nepalis For Short Speeches (EST - 1 hr 12 mins)
People attending the parade are encouraged to bring their own sunscreen lotion. Other lotions and momo provided at venue, proceeds of which will go to earthquake relief.
