Most of the traffic fatalities never make it to the online news. Safety education is a key to prevent a lot of these accidents. I think the tests for acquiring drivers licence should be more stringent. In the US, they have CDL (Commercial Drivers Licence) to be able to operate heavy vehicles and commercial buses and trucks. I wouldn't be surprised if an experienced Nepali driver would bribe someone in the Police Dept. to obtain license. They are not only putting their own life in Danger but thousands on the road. Also, putting proper traffic signals and signs at proper places would reduce the traffic fatalities in Nepal as well. I don't know if the Dept. of Roads have any programs to alert drivers and pedestrial of Road Hazard and Safety, but they should.
