Miss Nepal is not only about Beauty, nor does it have policies where seats are reserved based on a person's ethnicity.

Most Miss Nepals (including 5 of the past 6 year's- Evana Manandhar, Ishani Shrestha, Shristi Shrestha, Malina Joshi, Sadickchha Shrestha) are from Newar community because frankly they outdid their competitors and rivals. Newars are generally an urban class of people so they are well-educated, smart, confident, plus have the money to afford this. Modern Newar girls are taught the value of education and career right from the childhood level. Look it up in youtube how smartly Newar girls answered the question-answer rounds the past years even though frankly a few of them were no where close to being "beautiful" compared to others. This question answer round is especially do or die, and however beautiful you might be, as long as these girls are not smart and can handle the stressful situation, they won't be selected in the top 5. Again, Miss Nepal is not just about beauty, they test the girls on their personality, smartness, etiquette, talent, among others.

It is also interesting to note that majority of the 1st and 2nd Runner-Ups in this context have also been Newars (Dibyata Vaidya, Prinsha Shrestha, Sonie Rajbhandari, Nagma Shrestha, Sahana Vajracharya, Sarina Maskey)
