Dear Ambrosia, thank you for bringing this topic here in Sajha. I want to begin with a Sanskrit sloka:
यत्र नार्यस्तु पुज्यन्ते रमन्ते तत्र देवता: I
Where women are worshiped there the Gods reside.

Why is rape so rampant in India? In Nepal as well rapes and acid attacks are increasing, and I am really concern about Nepal's future. Where are we heading? We must understand the root cause of rape and eradicate it from that level. Just punishing these criminals will not help in the long rung because prevention is better than cure. It's better to curve the path of incoming meteor before it hits the earth and cause loss of lives.

Darkness prevails in the absence of light. Similarly, all crimes happens in the state of ignorance. This is not an ignorance of this and that but it is an ignorance of the Self. Who am I? Why am I here? Who are these people? If I am the subject, all these individuals are also subjects. So, women will no longer be an object when proper Vedic education is provided. If government doesn't take any responsibility in removing the ignorance of its citizen through proper education, then these kinds of serious crime will not stop. The problem with present government of India and Nepal is that they do not take any responsibility on expanding the collective consciousness of its citizen. A nation is nothing but a collective consciousness. In the video it is said, "50% of India's population lives below poverty line, which is a life not worth living." Who are these rapist? Most of them come from poor, uneducated background where violence is the norm. They go through violence from early childhood, their mind is already desensitized with family and social violence. With poverty kicking their ass, and violence in their mind, should we expect their behavior to be in coherence with societal standards? If government expect such a behavior from these poor uneducated citizens, then I would label such government to be a "hypocrite government". Darkness can only be removed by light. Ignorance in people can only be removed through proper knowledge. The present education system doesn't teach its citizen how to cultivate good thoughts. Our mind always runs outside, even the so called educated people have no idea how to control one's own mind. Most people behave nicely when they are in public, but when you check them indoors, they are wild beast and they engage in all kinds of crazy things. Actions doesn't just happen out of nowhere but is the result of inner impulse/desires. How many ordinary beings understand what a desire is and why it pops out from the subconscious mind? These are serious topic and Vedic knowledge deals with it perfectly. Therefore, government of Nepal and India must be serious about these crimes. Who are responsible if we have crimes, wars, disharmony in the world? It is human being alone.
Therefore, until and unless Nepal and India starts a total grass root movement by bringing a holistic education system where no child is left behind, these crimes will not stop. All the street children of Kathmandu should be given equal opportunity, all those small children who wash dishes in filthy restaurant must be given priority, if we want to see a prosperous society because: A nation is nothing but a collective consciousness. Government itself is the result of collective consciousness! You will get what you have! Members of government are also the part of collective consciousness. So, this is like a vicious cycle where humans are caught. Government must punish these criminals but until and unless we brings a holistic approach where no one is left behind, there will be no coherence between human nature and natural law. If you go against the natural law by your stupidity, nature will revolt and bring misery in your life.
