It is sad to see so many Nepali men & women perish in foreign lands. What is the real cause of these deaths? Is there a post-mortem report?

The Nepali Govt. is messed up to the core as we all know it. There is no employment in Nepal and inflation is up through the roof. These workers go abroad to make money for their families since there is no good paying jobs for them in Nepal. BTW .. over 90% of workers who goto Malaysia, UAE, Qatar, Saudi etc., have not even passed +2. Most of them are uneducated and poor. They take out high interest loans to go abroad.

A lot of these workers have never worked in heavy duty construction jobs in their life. If one is physically weak, one should not attempt difficult outdoor construction jobs in hot and humid weather. You have more chances dying of fatigue, stroke etc. The Labour Dept. in Nepal needs to set some standards but sad reality is this Dept. is corrupt to the bone.

It is not a matter of going to Malaysia or Qatar. It is a matter of picking the right job based on your physical ability. Not everyone in USA can do construction jobs. Most construction workers I have seen with my eyes in USA are physically strong and built pretty tough. If you are 140lbs, skinny and weak, I suggest you apply for hotel room cleaner or some other light duty jobs. BTW .. no one forces anyone to go abroad. No one brings a person in chains and sends this person off to Malaysia or Qatar. This person chooses to go for a particular job with his/her decision.

My simple suggestion is, there needs to be better awareness campaign through media and other means, so these workers have better upfront knowledge into what exactly they are getting into. Also the manpower companies who send these workers to foreign lands, needs to do a better job at keeping track of worker's health/mental issues.

Just my two cents.
