Dear SIS,
All developed societies have a basic safety net created so that the people do not fall through the cracks. As a developed and civilized society ,we have obligation towards fellow citizens and residents that they have food to eat, housing ,education and basic medical . That is the whole purpose of paying taxes and insurances. These benefits not only help the current generation but the future ones too.
I have been volunteering with Bhutanese refugees since 2009. The children who came to this country malnourished, weak and scared, are now confident and successful college students all over PA studying maths, science, law ,public policy and nursing.
The idea behind safety net program is to catch you and bounce you back just like TRAMPOLINE but if people treat it as a HAMMOCK, then ,it their loss.
