Sathi ho I am completely new to Investing. Need some expert guidance. Being a lazy person that I am, I opened a brokerage account. The portfolio, at JPMC Investment Account, which was 70% stock did pretty badly last week. Only on Friday did it recover a little bit. The thing that I wanted to ask is - was my decision to open a brokerage account (without even a basic knowledge on investing) at JPMC Investments, a good idea? Their pricing was 4.5%. Which meant that the fund that I set aside for portfolio, say $100, from my Checking Account started with a balance of $95.5. And last week was pretty bad. My balance on Thursday evening was, say $90. Only on Friday did it recover a bit and the balance settled at say, $91. But I am still behind. The adviser had said the average return on that fund was around 9% in a 5 year period. My question is how do I start investing in funds without pretty much worrying about risky stocks. Is there an indexed fund or annuities account that you can invest with pretty much low yield but less risk. Your take please.
