If your visa states B1/B2, then yes you can gain entry to the U.S. and yes, usually the Customs & Border Protection (CBP) officers that will review visitor's visa grant entry for 6 months, but this might change to fewer months depending on the type of officer & your reason of visit to the US. The CBP officer will ask for your reason of visit & make sure you have a good reason like family visits &/or visiting different places in the U.S. since you're in the region or something of this nature.
