Nepali men expect the same kind of relationship that they see from their moms. In moms generation husbands are supposed to be treated like gods and women had to be servants or slaves to the whims of their husbands. Most of old culture and traditions are biased towards men and noone in current government or religious leadership position wants to let go of the old traditions which keep the women down. There is slow realization among modern nepali women thesedays that celebrations like teej are becoming outdated.
